Not much progress between the weather and other responsibilities but I did manage to get some parts cleaned.

Got the underside of the bonnet painted and bolted it together. Then it was lay out all the bolts, screws, fixings, and work out where they belong and what i need to buy. This happens when you totally strip your truck. I had them in a drum.

Nothing. I was in your neck of the woods last week, Woody, playing golf in the Pinehurst area, and didn't get back until late Saturday. The weather wasn't great, but we managed to get five rounds in. However, the weather is getting much better here, and I'll begin my spring work on the truck today or tomorrow.

Wrestled a new ringgear onto my flywheel. Now, I gotta put everything back together.

Got the window felt in the drivers door, put my front signals on,worked on some of the wiring, patched another hole in the floor, and tried to find where water is getting in the cab(what else would you do when it's raining?),and started getting all the adjuster pullys loose on the seat frame.

And now I'm looking at tires,OUCH $600.00 without tubes

Put some brake fluid in, found out the master cylinder is leaking on the 53 6400. Decided that the gas was getting low so I had to force myself to go for a ride to the gas station. Amazing how a 2 mile trip takes an hour, but one heck of a sugar pill after a long winter.

I worked on my power steering conversion for about 9 hours and still I'm not done. Fun stuff, but I'm getting there, once I get the Pitman arm on I'll be in good shape. I think I need to move the steering box a little for the Pitman arm to fit. Hopefully it will be worth the effort and expense.

I got my truck out of winter storage, it's been sitting since December. Had a heck of a time figuring out why it was so reluctant to start. It didn't seem to have any spark. Fiddled with the points. Recharged the battery several times. It turns out that while I expected the carb to be dry, instead I succeeded in flooding it. Finally it caught. Since then it's been running great.

Got the rest of the shackle and spring bushings out of the '39 GMC this weekend.

With the grass growing now I had to get the blade off the tractor and get the mower on as well as doing the spring maintenance on the 2-53 GM Diesel in my John Deere 435.

Also wound up doing the brakes on my suburban and the daughter's camaro.

Not too much this weekend. I did enjoy watching my university put the hurt on UCLA in the Final Four. grin
I did swap the thermos housing for a billet straight 45 Degree. My crate engine came cocked left and my radiator exits from the center.

First I switched out my Rochester Carb for the YF on the 216 in my 52. It fired up the best it ever did. Then I discovered it was sucking air through the throttle shaft, so I am back to the start point on that one.

Drove with Scott D- to our Wisconsin Bolt lunch gathering in my 46. About a 50 mile ride all told. Learned about some rear end options from TC and king pin instructions from Randy B-. Got back and dismantled my front end to replace the king pins. This was REALLY overdue. Got everything cleaned and prepped for reassembly when I get the axle back in a day or so.

I spent Saturday running up to the north end of Baltimore to pick up my new bandsaw, then spent the rest of the day assembling and getting it set up. Made a few test cuts around 7 that evening and pushed to the back of the shop so I could get something done on the Burb.

I drilled the undersized hole on the caliper bracket out, went to the parts store and bought the correct size grade 8 hardware then reassembled the front left hub and disc assembly. That was work left over from last weekend.
I was about to tear down the right side to do the same when I got a bug to try salvaging the sway bar brackets instead. Here is what I started with old bracket
I had a busted bolt to drill out on both brackets and I had to weld up the shock mount hole as they had both been torn up pretty bad. Since one end of the hole still with the broken bolt had good threads after my drilling operation I ran a bolt through it from the top, cut it off and peened it in place to create a stud. like this
There a couple other photos there if you can find them. Anyhow that is as far as I got... two good brackets ready for paint.

I converted the 53 216 to 12V and put in a new rear main seal, and I did a little sanding on the 56 cab.

I spent Friday and Saturday at a little slice of gearhead heaven on earth at the Portland Swap Meet. It is one of the largest on the west coast. Walked for hours upon hours looking at trucks, cars, parts and vendors. Actually met Jim Carter, nice guy. Chevs of the 40's had a complete modern AD frame next to a complete new 5 window cab with display of all sheet metal for sale. Yes, you can now build a completely brand new AD, if you have a spare $30-40K in your pocket. Got a few things for the '50 and some for the '64 Pontiac, including a new truck floor. Spent Sunday hacking out the truck floor on the '64. All and all a great weekend.
