I don't think it's possible to retro P/S to your original steering box and column. I replaced my column and box to achieve P/steering.

I can't remember which mag I saw it in, but they did the mod to an AD 1/2 ton and kept the original column (well, most of it). They installed a new box and cut the column just above the old one. The column sleeve was cut again a little higher. A phenolic bushing was used to center the actual steering shaft in the sleeve. A modern u-joint and shaft connected the old shaft to the new box. If you can find a box which will drive your steering, I'm sure some system like this will allow you to keep your original wheel and column.

Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice)
\'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run.
My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787.

That article was either in Classic Trucks or Custom Classic Trucks. They do that mod all the time on 1/2 Tons. They usually use a rebuilt steering box from an 80's Toyota Truck and a custom Pitman arm. If you pick up a copy, I think that you will find a supplier that advertises a kit. The steering column is cut as stated but the net result is a purely stock truck inside the cab.

It is coming up the time of year where magazines publish a complete listing of their articles for the year. This is usally done in Dec ot Jan.
