Here's the question: How do I tell the difference between a 230 and a 235 in a truck that I can only look at and not take apart?
All help is appreciated.
Jim | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,517 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,517 | The valve cover is an easy place to start. A 230 or 250 will have 6 bolts holding it on. A 235 will have 4.
A 230 or 250 will have the distributor all the way to the front on the pass. side.
235 is midway back on the pass. side.
And the side cover(pushrod cover) is 2 pieces on a 230/250.
235 is one piece.

I got given a 64' with a 235 in it. My 65 has a 250 (not avaliable until 66)...so take the year of the truck into account, but do the research above to find out for sure. | | |
