I finally got my pickup, paid $700.00 for it. My uncle inherited it from his grandpa who bought it new in '53. My uncle still has the original title wich I plan to hang on to. It seems to be in pretty good shape, rust in the usual areas but nothing to hard to fix. The truck was taken care of very well and it shows. It will be in storage until this spring, I plan to go through the brakes, change the fluids, get new tires, and see if I can get it driving as is for a little while before I really start to tear into it. I'll be collecting as much info as I can from this site all winter so I'll be ready when spring comes around! Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4 Picture 5
The problems we face today can not be addressed at the same level of intelligence we were at when we created them - Albert Einstein Or with the same level of $ - Me
Yup, it's all original, I plan to keep it stock, maybe a vintage speed part or two (i.e. dual exhaust), but I've got other cars to go fast with. This will be my ride for running to the parts store and bouncing around town with. My uncle tells me that his grandpa always had it parked in a shed with plastic under it even back when it was his daily driver. It was running not all that long ago, so I don't think it will take much to bring it back to life. Pretty good for a rustbelt truck anyways!
Welcome to the 'bolt and congratulations on a great truck! It's neat this truck has a family tie all the way back to when it was new. This is a great place to get questions answered and problems solved. Enjoy !!!
Nice truck. The project that anyone would like to start and finish. This kind of truck require the best job you can; I mean, spend all the time and money you need to have the best results. As my experience tell me, the Patience and effort are our best weapons. Go ahead and keep us informed.
DBell, First, welcome to another stovebolter...You also have a nice truck to start with...Naturally, like most trucks from that era will have specific areas that will require more work, but for the most part the body panels look very good...I notice that You are located in Lake Mills, Wi..I have a very good Friend that lives there by the name of Bob Davis...Any chance You know Him??? Some people are like Slinkies, Their not really good for nothing... But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
