I'm heading to Atlanta for the weekend tomorrow to attempt cranking my grandfathers Viking 40 (not sure what year). Hasn't cranked since 1998.

The nearest parts store is 1 hour away. Any special tools, parts, or other stuff I should take with me?

A fresh battery, a small gas can and rubber fuel line (in case you need to gravity feed the carb), some electrical connectors, wire, crimpers, ect., maybe some plug wires in case rats have gotten to them, engine oil, coolant or water.

Both my big bolts (56 4400 and 59 Viking 60) had not run in 5 to 8 years, and with those items above, I got them both to run and drive, but they both still have no brakes...Good luck, be patient and have fun! Send us some picturs and let us know how you make out!

distibutor cap, points, coil if you know which engine it has. in addition to rubber fuel hose you may consider a 3 or six gallon marine gas tank. you can tap into the fuel line prior to the fuel pump and use primer bulb to pump fuel up til fuel pump takes over. make sure line from pump to carburator is clear. good luck saw a 55.2 to 59 3100 on it's way to crusher today sad.narrow flat screw driver. battery terminal cable ends. (a lot of the older terminals the bolts are too corroded to properly clamp.)
