The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Panels 'N Burbs Power brake boosters

Looking through all the usual catalogs for power brake booster conversions. Just about everybody has one. Pretty much decided on the underfloor frame mount type. RBs has one for $315 by Serious Hardware and in the photo looks pretty good. Blurb sez bolts right up but for automatic transmissions only. Won't work with a manual? Using th350 so doesn't matter anyway. Just wondering. I will probably go with this unit and am looking for advice from anyone who has done this type of conversion. Body is off the frame so should be pretty easy. Right? Every time I ask a question like this I get lots of good answers and haven't been disappointed yet. Thanks Bolters.

I'VE DONE A LOT IN THE SHOP. NO PROBLEMS HERE.
BODY OFF FRAME IS ALOT BETTER TO MOUNT IT & RUN YOUR BRAKE LINES, WILL NEED TO PUT A SMALL TRAP DOOR IN FLOORBOARD TO CHECK & SERVICE IT. UNLESS YOU GO WITH A REMOTE FILL ON THE FIREWALL.

Weeds, I tried to email a reply to your PM but it bounced. Click the link to my "Trucks" website then click on "54GMC" then "Front suspension" to see the problems I ran into with the kit from CPP and how I solved them.
As far as clearance with the tranny, I didn't have any problems. I'm using a TH200-4R behind a 248.

Weeds: I just installed CPP booster and front brakes after researching Cletis tips and down loading the pictures from CPP Tech Files It was real easy.

I did order the remote fill because I am closing the floor hatch off. With the new booster I did have to drill 3 holes but that is just helping support it. Ben

Weeds, I didn't catch what model truck your working on but I put the master/cyl booster under the floorboard on my 37 and glad I did. It keeps the firewall nice and clean and roomy. I did have to get creative and attach my brake switch to the bottom of the floorboard but no problem. I have it sitting against the homemade brake pedal and it works find. Good luck on yours.

Chip I ordered mine from RBs. Supposedly a bolt up according to the blurb. It hasn't come yet. My truck is a 49 Chevy suburban. The body is off so the installation should be pretty easy. The pic in their catalog shows a brake pedal arm on the assembly. Hope it comes thru the original hole in the floor. Thanks for the encouragement and the info. Weeds
