On my 46 1 Ton Chevy panel there are no engine side splash pans, laying flat along the engine from the engine side over to the frame, probably about at the engine block/oil pan joint, but there are some small front sheet metal brackets on each side of the lower radiator that make me wonder if there once were splash pans, or whatever they are called. My '30 Chevy Sedan has them. This truck had a swap to a 235 many years ago, so pans maybe were lost. They would probably fit the 235, I'd guess, but maybe not.

Were there pans, would they fit now, and where might I find some?

Thanks!!

Doug,

My '41 has one pan left. I'll take a pix tomorrow for you. It's not installed right now.

There was one on either side of my '41 1.5 ton when I pulled the engine last winter. I removed one and the other is still on the truck.

My ’41 had them on both sides. Initially I thought they were 1 inch thick. When all of the grease, caked oil, and road gravel was removed they turned out to be about 16 ga. sheet metal. They were FUBAR being so bent and rotted away they went into the trash.

At the back the pans were mounted to brackets extending inward from the frame at the point where the bellhousing starts. (On the drivers side the clutch return spring also is attached to this bracket.) At the front there were holes directly in the front engine crossmamber.

Too bad, probably a lot of them were pitched. I would still like to get one for each side.

My '46 1 Ton Panel has two little thin brackets in front, on the front engine cross member, on each side, maybe 3" in size, sort of triangular shaped, that now don't do anything, so I think these held the fronts of the pans. In the back are the brackets you mentioned, Kip's41.

Surely some hot rodder has these left in his discard pile.

So we are down to two questions:

Would they fit now that my truck has a 235 instead of the 216?

Where can I find some?

I believe my 48 6400 had a pair, I'll see if I can find them.

Anyone have pictures of good ones installed in an AD truck? I think mine are bent out of shape, but now sure how they are supposed to look.

When I got my 46, it had both sides in place, and in real good shape.

If I recall correctly, the exhaust was routed up through the driver side pan. That might be the only problem you might have with the 235, (the exhaust routing).

I didn't put them back in place when I replaced the engine, and split the manifold.

They're sitting on a shelf in the garage. I believe all of the brackets are still attached to the truck.

Don't want to get into a gray area here, but I might be open to an offer, if you were to send one my way via a PM/e-mail.
