I'm getting ready to mount my Fulton visor and am wondering what kind of traffic viewer I should be looking for. What brand names were out there back in the 50's and are there any that are made now that you like?

How about mounting? I'm guessing you drill a hole in your dash (ouch). Do you mount it in the middle of the dash, at the end.

I suppose it is obvious that I don't have any idea what I'm doing with this deal.

Thanks for the input.

There was Fulton,Peckat and Guide. There was a couple of other brand's that I can not remember the name.DO NOT drill into your dash, just use a garnish molding screw. The accessory book show's it just to the right of the steering wheel.

Guide is the one I use...The viewer comes
with 2 ways to mount it...and the garnish molding
screw is the best..(as mentioned in above post)
Guide is available new for $45.00...

I had one like tclederman posted, but didn't like it. The view was too distorted. Found a Fulton on e-Bay for only about $20. The surface on it is smooth and you get a much better view of the stop lights.

I remember my dad had one on the '50 or so Hudson we had. It had a suction cup mount and he stuck it to the windshield at the top of the windshield but enough down to get a view of the traffic light. Little plastic gizmo he got at Autolec or Western Auto I believe.

Rusty Rod always has more than enough beeers in the garage fridge... bud light, silver bullets, a couple Japanese beers, half a rack of miller lites and a couple of leftover newcastles...

oh, i would never look at a chicklet bending over picking up pennies.

on topic:::: I cant see the reflection on my hood, because my hood isnt shiney, so i have to peek up at the light...

there is really no use for them today.I can see the stoplight's just fine with the visor's on my car's and truck's.When these were made most road's with stop light's were 2 lane and the car/truck was alot closer to the stop light's,today you the car/truck sit's farther away.Food for thought.

yeah the real use for them was back when they hung the 4-faced signal lights out dead center of the intersection, so it was too close to you and above your line of sight with a visor, where now most lights are spread around low and high, right and left, and on the other side of the intersection

The way the stoplights are here I've been thinking about getting a viewer for my 06 Charger. I have to hunker down to see the lights in it. I'm getting Sweetie out of the beauty shop tomorrow with it's Fulton so I picked up a clamshell viewer for her today.

Ya'. The lights on some of the one way streets here in Denver are hard to see in every car I've ever been in. And on a one way there's not always an opposing light to look at. I live in the city so there's lots of places where there isn't an opposing light to look at.

Thanks for opinions on the viewers. I think I know what to try now.

i've got the viewer like the one from classic parts. it's plastic not like the original glass and has a stepped lens. it works great as i have a fulton visor on my 53 p/u. once you get it set up, just look at the viewer and the red/green light will light up in a v pattern, just wait for the color to change to green. i'm 6'3" and welcomed this inovation to my truck! it's a lot better than imitating a vulture at the traffic light

cheers
