There didn't appear to be a big drum-type master cylinder with the resevoirs for the disc brakes. all you could see was firewall which looked very clean. It's the second time I've seen it like that on a late 50s chevy truck. How do they do that? I ask because I'd like to add front discs and keep that area clean like that. I'm installing that under my 46. The power brake setup is a very expensive system but cleans up the firewall. You can even install an off-set type steering column which puts the firewall side of the column a lot lower and just about out of sight. Another expensive item. I think a clean firewall looks sharp and enhances the look of the engine compartment. I am in the process of changingb to front discs on my 55 1st series and have the new dual chamber master cylinder in the stock location.

I used an actual Stang II mastercyl with booster with it all under the driver side. A good friend made me a bracket that fastened to the side of the chassis and the master cyl/booster bolts right to it. He then made me a brake pedal. It all works very good. Colin ask where are the wires, well they can be run "up and Under". Under the firewall, up the kick panel etc. I ran most of mine up and under but I did like the little "thingy"/rubber gromet on the firewall of my 37 that a couple wires/cable goes through and kept it. | | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 920 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2004 Posts: 920 | Originally posted by jmoore:

I was assuming they had the original master cylinder on the firewall like mine. Now it's all coming clear. I'm wondering if it's possible to do on a 60 - 62 like mine. Might not be safe? | | |
