Good day. I took a moment to throw together a little web page for my truck.

I've enjoyed many pics here so far, I thought I'd share. It's where I'll keep track of its progress. It's real small but it's a start.

Ultimately, my plan is to DRIVE IT!

First be fixing the brakes. Driving it around the block is a bit scary. It'll stop, ya just gotta yank on the emergency lever and lock up the rear wheels. It's pretty funny actually but it will stop.

After the brakes, get the windshield wipers working, the passenger door to stay closed (currently using ultra modern technology - a tie down), then onto the tail lights (which aren't there). Once those work, then I'll put some more modern 16 in dual wheels (so I don't kill myself or anyone else with the split rims) then attempt to license it.

Once I have a functioning truck, then I'll slowly restore one piece at a time. The idea is to be a daily driver and pull some of my classic boats with it. I just love the truck.

Kelly, I think its gonna be real nice. I also like it as I never even thought of one ton's having the five windows. It will bring you a lot of frustrations that are quickly forgotten as you ride down the road and everyone smiles and gives you the "thumbs up"...and you get all the satisfaction of actually doing it. I/We all look forward to seeing your progress and welcome to the best truck forums on the net!!

Did a little lusting after those 5 windows myself. I wonder if anyone has ever added them to a 3-window AD without changing the entire cab, and if so, what was the proper way to go about it . .

I like your website; wish I could do something like that myself, but I'm dinosaur who never even took typing in school (the T-Rexes scared me too much) and too darn busy these days to scratch my . . oh, you get it.

Take a look at 19.5" rims on current trucks. They'll give you better road speed than 16's if you convert. These trucks were geared short enough to pull stumps, but long-range driving in fast company evidently wasn't a consideration. I'd be happy if I could do 55 all day in mine, but I've never been that fast: At 50 she's screaming.

While out looking around for some wheels for mine, I found a COE, all done up as a junkyard wrecker. I snapped a quick pic of it. Unsure of the year though.

I'm going for a sort of "mini semi" look for my 47 so maybe 19's or 20's will work. I don't know yet. Simple open back end, maybe a utility bed or something, small 5th wheel, who knows.

I think I'm going with a small mini-semi sort of look to it. Rounded gas tanks like a semi, open back, maybe a 5th wheel hookup or add-on (bolt on) items like a wrecker might have. Dunno yet.

Thanks. I've noticed I can take off in 3rd gear and walk faster than idle in 1st. Possibly a different rear end will be in the future here. I'm not sure yet. I do plan on some long range driving so most likely the engine, trans, driveline & rear end will most likely be modernized.

In looking at your website I saw the engine compartment and I am curious about the heater hose lines. What is with hot water being pumped to the driver's side? Is that where a heater valve is located? I don't believe I have seen that before, is this particular to big trucks?

You know what? I don't really know. I'll go look and shoot a pic or two and see. Maybe there's two heaters. I'd never really thought about it as this is my first truck but your observation has me wondering. I'll find out and be back.

Kelly,changing the rearend will be a good idea because 16 inch wheels will not go over your brake drums.

The more I think about it,the more I think those 19.5's might be a good move,rather than the rear end change. I've noticed that a larger diameter tire usually produces a smoother ride,and I think you'd have more stable handling at highway speeds,probably less wear and tear on the drivetrain,and it'd look way cool,especially with the big rig fixin's on it. Just do your research and go with what looks right to you-these changes will probably be costly enough to make you want to get 'em right the first time.
