For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 86 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 86 | We are making progress with the resto of the 53 3100 shortbed, spare tire mounted on side. But, the mirror that was on it when I got it is not big enough and the tire blocks the view of the left rear. A while back, I got a new set of junior west coast mirrors and we cannot get them to fit at all.
Does anybody have some ideas about good mirrors (other than mickey mouse ears) that will provide good rear vision? I have closed over all the holes so it really doesn't matter what we get as long as it looks at least acceptable and not too modern.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! | | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 124 Member | | Member Joined: May 2004 Posts: 124 | I am having the same problem. I was told to try places that servicr big trucks. I hav'nt done it yet.

A properly adjusted right side mirror is looking at the next lane over.... erases the blind spot.. ALLEGEDLY.

I like the ones that are on Scott's loadmaster...wonder if I can find them somewhere. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 Ex Hall Monitor | | Ex Hall Monitor Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 | My old 55 1st panel came from the factory with small (about 6") round black mirrors. Really sorry for a factory set-up. I put a set of long rectangular (big rig looking) mirrors on it & used the factory mirrors as blindspot mirrors. It wasn't stock but it worked really well.
