I dont know what to call it but I know I got it. I found this site about a mounth ago. Sent in a few pics of my 63 K10 and became a member. Spent a few late nights reading about all the trucks
(not some) in the gallery and studying the forum and Wammo! I was infected. I find myself stoping to look at trucks that I have been driving buy for years. my girl finds me late night doing nothing but looking at picturs of old chevy trucks. I have bought two trucks in the last week. 57 GMC 1 ton and a 59 36 apache. with the new parts washer and sand blasting gear my blacksmithing shop is starting to look like a body shop. (Grin) Has anybody else had any like symptoms and why are the voices in my head always talking about big bolts the full figure jobs. He He He, Having the time of my life thanks guys.

Uh-oh! Sounds like you got it. Welcome to the Stovebolt Page. Looks like you've already figured out it's more than just the forums. There's an education to be had here.

For info on the GMC go to old GMC trucks.com

Welcome Dan! Now get yourself a nice rig that you can use for your business so you can drive an old bolt every day! And it's great advertising too!

Dan, it is a common afliction. I am in the Hot Rod division but find myself looking with affection at some I-6's that I ignored before.

Definitely fix one up real nice with your business name on it for advertising. Maybe you could even write-off the paint job or the whole thing as a business expense, if you use it for picking-up and dropping-off work. There's a couple of nice looking old trucks around town that definitely get attention for the businesses they advertise. One's a State Farm insurance agency and the other is an old, old tow truck from a car dealership that I've seen in parades and occasionally around town.

Dan, most of us here know exactly what you are going through. It starts out as a "hobby", but quickly turns into an obsession. Even though I own only one old chevy truck at this time, every night I go to sleep thinking about what I will get next when I finish this one.

Welcome to the 'Bolt.

I see your problem bolt-o-haulic anonimus is the answer. Go to your local chevy dealer and drive a new truck, look at the price tag, and call you banker in the morning. For now take 2 dammitalls and get away from the computer.
Post me again in 7 days if you ain't any better.

Rusty Rod is a recalcitrant rustoholic recklessly rendering rusty relics rustless, in reality, Rusty Rod repeatedly rapidly repaints rusty rods red.

My name is David, and I'm a bolt-o-haulic. blush This is my first meeting, but admitting I have a problem is the first step. wink I recently couldn't stop myself from buying a second bolt. nono The problem has even spilled over into my family life. big_eek Now my wife tells me about the cool old Chevy's she sees on her trips to/from work. (I'm jealous) I really can't afford professionals, so I guess that I am in for the long road of self-help. thumbs_up Whew - I feel better just getting that off my chest. Now I can go looking for parts. grin

Yup,
My Wife diagnosed me with this particular disease bought 4 yrs ago when the truck arrived on a car hauler one chilly march mornin from Texas ..all i head her mutter was "IT DOESNT LOOK NEAR AS GOOD AS THE PICTURES!"
She then went inside an didnt talk to me for a few hrs ...lol
but now she is ALL BOUGHT cruisin in it ...???...GO FIGURE?
this particular cyndrome can only be cured with MANY HRS away from the spouse in a environment of Tools, dirt & enjoyment.
it is Therapy to some & divorse court for others!

My wife doesn't understand why I care so much for my "other woman/en)" in the garage and why I'm happy to see an old Chevy truck or meet another Stovebolter.
It's in our DNA and difficult to explain...except to each other.

On another old vehicle forum in the signature of one of the members he wrote something like this, "my wife saw me looking at an old tractor one day and told the man 'he doesn't need anything else with a steering wheel'". My wife would be like that. She doesn't mind the 50 Chevy but she thinks one at a time is enough. dang

Who needs a steering wheel ,I've used vise grips before drive
If I tell my wife I've seen a cool old truck, the first thing she says to me is 'how much did ya pay for it?'

I have my house up for sale so I can move to the country & have a garage at home where I can work on trucks.

Look at the bright side, addiction to Stovebolts is better than an addiction to drugs or pornography. ohwell
