I want to replace all the fenders on my 53 bolt. Three are regular and one is dimpled. All I can find is standard fiberglass ones, but everyone in the selling business says that the metal ones are "soon to come." Some of the vendors say that they were told "soon" back in August of '05. Does anyone know if metal ones are available from anywhere? (I know that problem finding a dimpled metal OR fiberglass one...no deal.) Geez, you would think that somebody would make them. I can refurbish the one that is on there, but it will be a bit of work.
Also, how bad are the fiberglass ones? Is there a lot of work needed to make them fit? Same problem with the hood.

I assume you're having a problem getting the fronts. I haven't worked with the glass fenders for these trucks, but have been told to avoid them as the fit is horrible. Best if you can rework yours or find some good used.

Fiberglass or steel those front ends are almost impossible to line up.

try the filling station. I just browsed through their catalog last week and seem to recall steel offered for both front and rear.

You can get steel fenders and darn near buy an entire repro pickup at lmctruck.com.

If the front fenders are like the repro rear fenders an average sized grasshopper at 45 MPH will dent them.

It is worth the money to buy good used or fix the ones you own.

I don't know about the 53's, but the fiberglass fenders for my '37 fit pretty well. The rears were right on and needed very little work. The fronts are thinner then the rears, but still worked out for me. Mine were from Bebops Fiberglass and R&R fiberglass. Joe

I ordered 'glass fenders from a place called Larry Lawrence Auto Body for my '59, and they fit pretty well. The only thing they really needed was to file down a ridge around the headlight buckets, because there was a seperate piece used on that part. The place is out of Michigan, I think, I'm sure you could find them by doing a Google search.

I found two or three guys in Albuquerque with a set of '47-'51 fenders in decent shape for $100 each.

The parts company formerly known as 'Chevyduty' lists steel and fiberglass on their website and states that the steel ones are in production- $329 + shipping each!

Depending on how much work yours need, it might be easier to have 'em sandblasted and then fix 'em, or replace just what you can't fix.

I put fiberglass on a 40 pickup I redid. Very pleased with them but they are poison if you go to sell it. I got them from R&R fiberglass.

Got a set of front/rear/runningboards for my 37 from R&R Fiberglass. Been running them 7 years now and they fit good, look good and still in nice shape. Other folks I have recommended are pleased as well.
