Hello all, this is my first post of many to come.

I am a new owner of my Grandfathers 66 c10 lwb stepside. 250 six 3 on the tree one wheel wonder. In fact it's a wonder its still attached to the frame but that is for another post.

Right now it's cold here in Seymour, TN and the old truck hasn't had a heater in it since the Carter admin. I have looked at many suppliers and they all have the deluxe listed. Chevy duty lists one core for both heaters and LMC list 3 different cores and heaters. Question is will a deluxe core fit a thrift air box or not? Any help or thoughts appreciated.

the various 'grades' of heaters these ol trucks have are frequently configured different enuff that they've got different shaped cores, so what I'd suggest is to take yer original core to a rad shop and see if they can make you a new one - that's usually do-able, as if the tanks aren't totally rotten they can get a variety of size cores and rebuild it - cheaper than the repro guys - failing that, measure yours up carefully and note the position of the inlet and outlet, and talk to someone like LMC who has a variety, one of which might be the same

A big welcome to the Stovebolt. I have used Radiator Express before and they were extremely customer focused. Just for grins, I did a search for your heater core on there site. They have two different styles listed.

Take a peek...the price looks great and the explanation might clear up your questions about the different types of cores.

Measure it up and call Carquest or NAPA and tell them which one you have. That's all I had to do for my 64.

I replaced my heater core in my '66 C-10 a few years ago, and the deluxe heater core did fit with only slight modifications.

I have used A to Z Auto Radiator,Southold,New York with excellent results.They will make a radiator or core if necessary.Give them a call @ 1-631-765-6849 and see what they say.Small shop but great folks to deal with!!

Doug 57, Explain slight modifications. The reason I ask is a board member has offered a deluxe core to me. I know that the deluxe core is 2 1/4 longer then the standard. Did you have to cut your box out on the inside? Or is there a simple thingamajig that pops out to allow the deluxe core to fit?

If I recall correctly, you only need to drill two new holes. It worked on mine OK, and I have the thrift air heater
