on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 90 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 90 | The 3600 side hood emblems on my 54 truck are in need of restoration and I have a few questions:
Where they originally chrome? If not, what?
They have some pitting. How do I repair and re-chrome them and is it hard?
Is it easier/cheaper to send them to out to be repaired? Any recommendations?
Lastly, has anyone heard of (or used) Nu-Chrome based in Fall River, Ma?
Thanks for any help/input!!!

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

I am trying to keep the emblems original. I'll keep searching/looking for the "3600" emblems. I found some on eBay awhile back, but they also need some fixing up.
Thanks again.

I hear Paul’s Chrome is good, but I have never done business with them. I got mine done local here in Southern California. I would recommend them but except that the place is pretty high priced compared to other areas of the country. (I didn't have to pay shipping though.) The other reason I hesitate is that I don't know if they would be cooperative shipping parts. It was about $600 for the pit removal and re-chroming of my two side emblems and front hood badge. That didn't include the painting. They were pitted pretty bad though. They look good now, but its only been a few months. We will see in a year or two. I guess I had my fill when I was a kid. ony the emblems for my '65 c10, I used a Testor model paint pen to touch up the colors... and some carb cleaner and Q tips to wipe off the excess. It's been out in the sun, rain and cold for a few months now and it still looks good. I think my emblems are plastic stuff though... and mine is just a driver, but it is one nice fixed up detail. -W | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 688 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 688 | Steve, the Swap Meets are going to be starting soon(in the next few months) so start looking there, I will also keep my eye out for you'r 3600 side emblems, if I should run across them.
I did see some emblems not 30 miles from my home, but they were attached to a BOLT. I guess you could have the Emblems if you were to buy this truck. I think he wanted $3,500. "thats a little pricey"
