Need some help tire shopping for the 4WD '85 Farmdawg.

It currently has LT285/75R16 desert tires on it (the truck came from China Lake, Calif) and I need some good big tires for mostly around the farm (mud, snow). Not too much road time (it's a 4-spd with 4:10 axles and a 460 CID mill. Gas mileage already stinks). What little road use it gets is generally less than 20 miles round trip. Annual mileage is less than 1,000 miles. Probably around 500 or so. I don't want pricey competition, or yuppy "I got cooler tires than you" kind of tires -- just good tires with an aggressive tread.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
John

John, I always had good luck with cooper tires. Seems like they lasted longer than other brands

Thanks Resto -- That Discoverer STT looks like what I think I'm looking for. I have a hole-in-the-wall local tire guy who I buy all my tires from -- small guy who's doing well against the onslaught of the big-block McTire dealers because (get this) he provides great, personal service at a fair price. I will not buy tires from anyone else.

When I brought him the '49 big truck 2-piece rims to demount and remount, he said, "Looks like museum day's here again..."

But thanks for the reference!

Go to a swap meet and pick up some ex-mudder tires for cheap. There always seems to be piles of the swamper style tires at our meets. I used to run some 36" swampers but I'm building my truck for some road use so I'm going with radials this time,
