You know it looks original, except for the paint color. The drive line is original, except for the 3.55 rear end. The suspension has been upgraded to tube shocks and you have a warmed up 235 under the hood with dual carbs and fentons. Is this original? I'd say no, but what is it. It's not a Hot Rod, maybe I could say it's "Improved" or "Enhanced". Updated might be a better discription. What would you say. George | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 314 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: May 2005 Posts: 314 | I would ask them what they mean by original... That is unless you want to get into a long explanation of what is and what is not... Most 'Bolters, however, like to talk about their trucks | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 Extreme Gabster | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 23 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 23 | i'd either say it was but i had to pimp out some things or its mostly original. | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 Bolter | Bolter Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 | It has been modified.....sort of like Johnny Cash's song, one piece at a time,,,,,,,,,,,Fred Redryder pixMy HotrodA veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of "up to and including my life."I am fighting cancer and I am winning the fight | Pain is part of life; misery is an option. | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 571 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 571 | Yeah Norse, I say "Oh, it's original allright" | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | I say, "It's been restored to original specs, except for one part - can you find it?" | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 113 Member | Member Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 113 | it's "mildly warmed over"... | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 38 Member | Member Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 38 | | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 66 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 66 | | | | | Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 102 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 102 | I say it's mine, done my way, and that's all that matters. I also have a 34 Ford with all Chevy drive train. I'll never forget, I once told a guy my 34 Ford had a 350 Chevy engine and I thought he was going to hit me. What a total as#hole jerk. If it's mine, it's mine. That's what's so great about the streetrod guys, no rules and everybody accepts it. It's all about personal expression. It's true art and craftsmanship and that's what matters!

The difference as I understand it---the definition of refurbished means that something is redone, often with enhancements that make it better than previously or even new.
While I'm being precise/picky, the term is "off frame restoration" not "frame off restoration".

BTW--When someone asks if my truck is original,I say"Some of it is." a guy walked by as I was getting outta the 58 last night and said 'nice truck' and his parting remark was 'what I like is the originality'
very few are thinkin about updated driveline, disc brakes, 'factory correct' colors or radial tires, they're just talkin about the overall look and wondering if it's a "survivor" or something a bucket of money and a lot of time went into

Of course, if it hasn't rained for a bit, I tell 'em, "Yep, 'cept fer the dust. Most of that just landed on the truck from that hawnyock pullin' in out back going 30 miles an hour."
Most folks don't know if it is a Chevy or a F**d. I could probably tell 'em its original right down to the flathead V-8 with overdrive and they would simply say, "Oh, that's nice. My Grandad had a truck just like that with the V-8 and overdrive."
(here my eyes would roll back in my head, the corners of my mouth sag, and I wonder if the individual has the capability to feed himself in addition to walking upright.)
Drivin' down a 2 lane country road in a stovebolt.....cowboy, it don't get no better than this!
