Thanks to all who replied with suggestions to the way this Forum is set up.
For now and in the near future,please post all off topic posts right here or in the "Hey Joker" thread.Off topic to me means any post not directly truck related, "I drove my truck to get Christmas gifts" is not truck related in my opinion." I drove my truck to get gifts and the crankshaft fell out onto the pavement ,now what?" is truck related.And no political,religious posts please.What's posted off topic now can be left until it fades away, but any new off topic posts not within the "Hey Joker" or this thread will be removed.Posts about advice on a newer truck is ok so long as it is in line with the same questions asked about older trucks.Posts on stuff like vintage aircraft, tractors,locomotives, etc are ok if kept with reason. Humor or polite sarcastic comments in trucks posts are also fine so long as it's on topic.No problem with Norse's cartoons either,comic relief is good for the soul.
The Stovebolt policy of no personal ads remains in effect,Ebay links to truck items are welcome provided they aren't the site of the person posting the link,same as always
This place is working pretty smoothly ,let's keep it that way for now unless The Stovebolt Editors set up something different.
With these few simple rules,we all should be able to continue to enjoy this site,thanks, Tony

What I posted above is nothing really new,same rules as when the General Forum rose from the ashes of the Lounge,but loosened up a little as usual.
Don't worry,I'm not gonna be looking over your shoulder on every post.In fact,you guys can police yourselves,if off topic is posted, just don't rely,it will quickly sink out of sight and the Stovebolt Staff won't have to deal with it.
If you feel an off topic post is of great importance to all here,such as a personal tradegy concerning a Stovebolter,just post it,ok?

I thought about my truck while I was backing my new 68 plymouth satellite next to old bessie. The painless wiring harness is almost complete. I got the one with the gm keyed column and I'm making a molex type patch cable to use so I don't have to butcher the one that came with the kit and still use the old column and turn signal.

Onto more interesting things, I bought a new pistol yesterday. It is a Dan Wesson .357 Magnum, blued, 6 shot revolver... I think it is a model 15 - but since they didn't put model number on there I'm having to go by how it looks....

I haven't shot it yet but it's pretty neat... turns out it has this whoel interchangeable barrel system that I did not know about when I bought it as I bought it used. So, that should be fun and interesting.

Hey Tony, Here's another thought for you. How can we raise people's awareness to post things in the appropriate category? Looking through the general category, and the Panels/Burbs category you can find eveything from body work questions to engine overhaul stuff. This not only requires everybody to sort through a lot of stuff that is "off topic" for the category, but it also makes for more searching when you are looking through the archives for something. If I have a brake question, I have to search Engine/Driveline, General and Panels/Burbs before I know if the question has already been discussed.

Sorry, I should have brought this up the other day when this was all under discussion. Maybe just reading it here will get people to thinking about it.

I looked at my son's '46 today. Then I went to look at a '55 Studebaker truck this afternoon. Tomorrow, I'm going to look at a '53 Dodge truck. And a '51 Chevy truck. Then I'll get in my Cumminsbolt and go home.

Hello fellow Bolters. This Is off topic so i'm putting it here. Here in B.C. we got our first snow of the year and maybe on of the earliest that I remember. I get so excited because i love the snow and it means snowboarding for me, x-mas vacation around the corner, and the end of exams. 2 cm isn't nothing but it sure brings out the x-mas spirit in me. Darn expensive but I have had several people in the stores (not sales people) tell me they are great. My dad just bought the competing Hoover and says it is great also.

I have a dog with lots of hair and my current vacuum gets glogeed every time I use it.

So I need something else.

Fred, it's $1,500 and comes with a small tandem-axle car hauler. Engine is free and turns with the starter. Body is very nice! Glass all good, too. Would take very little to make it streetable. Will decide by tomorrow if I buy it.

What is your definition of a "small tandem axle car hauler"? Do you mean a flatbed trailer or one of those dolly rigs? I was going to say, any kind of a decent trailer really makes that Stude seem like a deal, unless the trailer needs a lot.

My hauler is a 16' wood deck job, probably 19' overall, has brakes but no winch, and in really good shape. I probably have $1100 tied up in it including the ramps, chains, binders and tie-downs. (I have both chains and binders and the heavy nylon strap tie-downs. I use what I think is right for the job.) I had one like it but slightly narrower, with those inconvenient angle iron rails around the top, good shape too but brakes needed work. Sold it for $800.

Small tandem-axle car hauler, not a dolly. A tandem dolly wouldn't work, except for pulling a second gooseneck trailer behind another. Small meaning the truck fits on it and that's it, maybe a 14' unit, if that. It's an open-floor style shorty, popular in California (in fact, that's where the trailer came from in the late '70's). No brakes.

Utility trailers, like you had, aren't good car haulers and aren'r designed for that, anyway. Great for tractors, lousy for cars.

Do you realize that in about 30 years, we'll have thousands of old ladies around with tattoos? (You guys said "off topic"),

We drive an Oreck 8 lb vacuum....my wife puts about 150,000 miles a year on the vacuum driving it around the whole house 3 or 4 times a week. We wore out the commercial model in 6 years. She loves the light weight....the new XL model does our hardwood floors better too.....it has a two speed....top speed...2 MPH...It picks up black lab hair by the ton too..

I try not to drive it that often....but sometimes a guy has to do....

Old ladies with tattoos? I see them all the time, women in their early 60's with those small tattoos on a shoulder or ankle.New style art,so they got them recently.Piercings? sure,why not,I like to look at that stuff,that's why they do it.

My brother snagged that. He has some kind of a little "crawler" he hauls around on it. It looks like it's from the '30s or '40s. I should get a picture of it. It would cause some drool with this crowd.

You're right, the trailer was a lousy car hauler, couldn't get the doors open once you were loaded. Handled OK though. I like the one I have now a lot better.

One convenient use for body piercings ofcourse is for attachments points for your trailer chains.

Or gives ya a anchor to rope onto during rough lovemaking

I dont have any tat's, dont intend on ever getting any, but my left nipple (can i say that here?) got pierced the other day by one of my cats claws.. darn that hurt... couldnt imagine how painful getting a (censored) would be.
