From Kevin:

It has been another year since the last update.  Here are some of the latest pics and another update on my progress on the 1940 Chevy 1/2-ton pickup truck.  Slow but sure. I hope to have it in our local Temecula Rod Run here next March. Well, that's the goal!

I have been finishing up on the hood and currently working on the wiring.  Next will be the fenders.

Here is a pic of the bed. The picture on the right is a good side shot of the running boards and white walls and hubcaps.  Here is another one of the engine compartment with the front grille assembly on.

Thanks, and hope all is well with everyone!

It has been a while but I thought I should give you an update on my progress of the '40.

I haven't been around the site lately, mostly because of my work schedule. I've just been very busy. But I have been thinking of all of you.

Here are some of the latest pics. Here is a good one of the front window. The interior is coming together well. And there's nothing like a lot of chrome -- the new grille! How do you like the white walls?

I just order a new complete bed just because mine was in such bad shape. The fenders are not done yet because they are in such bad shape and I have been putting them off. I'm just not ready for the pain yet! Also waiting for the wiring harness... so I can get this BAD BOY started up!

Currently working on the running boards.

Thanks and hope all is well with everyone!

Wondered if you could add a few pics to my Gallery page? Maybe it could be labled "Progress?"

From Kevin:

Hello everyone. I'm a new owner of a '40 Chevy 1/2-ton truck. This is the way the truck looked when I picked it up!

I'm very excited to find this web site and have enjoyed learning about the project that I have taken on.

The truck that I have was originally owned by my Uncle Willy. He is now 85 years old. He lives in Kansas and this truck was his farm truck since it was new. He was hoping that I could "get the ol' truck running" before he is gone. So my intention is to get this truck restored back to its original state. Engine, trans, paint, etc. Then drive it back to Kansas for him to see. (No, he can't have it back!)

I have restored a few cars (mostly Camaros) before, but I'm new to the Stovebolt garage.

<-- During tear down …
Kinda rusty!

This truck was pretty much a basket case and many of the pieces were lost or thrown out. So this will be a challenge to get it back together. I have dismantled, sand blasted and painted the frame. The whole brake system is completed, down to the steel lines that were rusted through.

The frame after painting -->

The engine is living at the machine shop right now being worked over. I've got new brakes and rebuilt the shocks. Once I get it back, I will be rebuilding it.

But, while I wait on the engine, I will be working on the cab.

I will keep you up-to-date on the progress.

Thanks for the help on this so far, and you will be hearing from me… I have a lot of questions!

Regards,
Kevin
