I had been wondering what seats to put in my 72 and the seat prices in Dallas even for junque yard seats were going quite high. I found a good boneyard off Hawn freeway in the stinky part of town that had a rolled 96 Excursion with really nice seats in it, but some bonehead put a disc rotor on the driver's side seat and it had a big ugly rust stain on it.

I went to another boneyard and a cat told me that the rust would easily come off with Scrubbing Bubbles Aersol Bathroom cleaner. So I bought the two seats and console for $150 and took a chance.

Sure enough after no more than a few minutes with a dish cleaning brush and the scrubbing bubbles stuff, the rust stain is coming right out and its cleaning the seat nicely without bleaching it.

Highly recommended!

It was a little bathroomy smelling so I put it out in the yard and rinsed it off with a bit of water.

That will be some solid comfort right there!

I do detail work as a side job and clean up some pretty nasty rides at times and, yes, the scrubbing bubbles work on cloth, vinyl, and even leather when nothing else seems to do the job. Spray on, let it sit, agitate with a brush, and rinse and/or dry with an absorbent towel.

I buy that stuff in 12 packs for cleaning. Never used it on seat though. Thanks for the tip!

Nice seats for the ride. I would like to find a bench with shoulder straps attached. The Jim Carter website says the 88 and newer Chevy seats are a close bolt in. I wonder when the trucks started with the built-in shoulder harness?

Stinky part of Town? Did you find them down by the river (south 75) or over on Jefferson?

On 175 just east of 635. And I mean the stinky part of town. I wanted the built in harness as well, but, you takes what you gets, especially for the $.

OLDBLUETRUCK,2000 or newer buick lesabre seats will work nicley. someone on this website posted picture of the installation brackets and the seats, i have the pictures but not the person who posted. all i have is the address. http://pg.photos.com/ph/getm24_2000/detail. hope this helps. ron

I know this is a really old tech tip "starter," but I wanted to let you know that I got some of those Scrubbing Bubbles to clean our couch! My neighbor was uncertain ... but I told her all about your seat and what a huge difference it made. She switched and bought the same stuff!

Hey Ron...how wide are those 2000 Buick seats? I have some leather seats from a 93 LeSabre Limited but they are only 51" wide. The stock 54 seat is 55" wide at the rear frame.

Sure would like to find some that were just a tad wider. Maybe the 2000's would do the job! Thanks in advance,

Thanks Ron......I checked out his pics...wished he had had a lower shot showing the mounting configuration. Have you got yours mounted yet!! If so, would appreciate any info on the lower modifications needed. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip on this. I tried a little on a really stubborn stain on my carpet (i love kids) and it worked great. Going to tackle a few on my truck seat to see what it does.
