My name is Zink. About 12 years ago, I was on here asking a million questions about my 1951 3600. I'll be honest, I was a young and dumb teenager, and that was easily shown in my manners on the forum. For that, I apologize, and I am ready for a fresh start. Here's my story:
After taking apart the '51, it sat in a hay shed for quite a while. I switched gears and turned my attention to my late grandfather's '76 Scottsdale (not sure if that is too new for all of you, but maybe one day I will do a thread on it somewhere). The '51 got pushed around in the shed, and I realized it would keep getting bumped into as the tractors and hay bales came and went. So I sold it and used the money on the Scottsdale, but the thought of a 5 window never left the back of my mind.
Fast forward to last year and I found myself another 5 window. This one is a 1949 GMC 250 one ton with a 9ft bed. I know that is not everyone's dream truck, but I love the big ol' girl. I just started work on her, so I am excited and eager to learn. It's good to be back.
The patina looks great on the truck. Lots of info and great folks here on the Stovebolt. I make mistakes and everyone is ready to help me in the right direction. Welcome aboard and keep posting pictures!

- If you think about it, it has been one year ago today!
What engine does the GMC have? I'm going to guess a 248 or 270, unless it's had an engine swap sometime in the past. GMC engine parts are a bit scarce and pricey, but with a little creative whittling by a good machinist, some non-original parts can be made to fit and work well. I'm in the process of doing some experimenting with using pistons, and possibly replaceable flanged cylinder sleeves for a Japanese Diesel forklift in 270 engines. Somewhere down the road for me there's a dirt track race car in the planning stages with a late 1930's Chevy body and a GMC 270 inline six. Jerry

As for your earlier conduct ... I don't remember it. Besides, you're getting punished enough by all the young and dumb teenagers you have to deal with now as a shop teacher
I'm not so young anymore, but I'm still plenty dumb.
Glad to have you back.
And I need to know who these people are who don't think '49 1-tons are Dream Trucks ... I need names. They will be dealt with....
