Ma'am, My wife put a plan in action to surprise both college kids home for semester break by: 1) replacing each of their boxsprings and mattresses; 2) not telling them beforehand; & 3) questioning each of them the next day after they had awoke. She particularly wanted to determine if they noticed and whether sleep quality had improved. The punch line is this: The daughter was late to her 3 year part-time Physical Therapy (PT) Aid job of 3 yrs for the first time as she slept so well (thru 5 separate alarms) and the son had noticed something odd, like the bed had seemed slightly higher but commented anything was better than the "cardboard like mattresses" provided at his school furnished apartment. It's the unique caring things done by her and me indirectly, i.e., billpayer, she does that is hard for your kids not to want to come home for holidays versus going with friends to exotic places. Good day Peggy. Thanks. V/r, Nick

Thanks Don and Vicky .Xmas to all my Stovebolt family been a good year .just went to take truck for a run and the brake pedal went to the floor don’t you just love a single circuit brake system . will have to upgrade to a dual circuit had done them up but that was 11 years ago so not a bad run
Merry Christmas to Tim and Karen and many more. Your truck won't stop and I am afraid mine won't go and leave me stranded. I am going to my son's about 100 miles round trip this morning but I am leery of having to have a flat tow.

1962 C10 with a 235 6cyl -- all of the drive train seems to be original. Some of this story is in the Side Lot Some people like a new truck. I liked the old ones.
Cute kids there fatboyzz. (Really like the young 'un's t-shirt.)
We've got a turkey in the oven now since we'll be having two feasts Chrismas Day -- one with neighbors (breakfast) and then afternoon one with long time friends (but not far away).
Merry Christmas to everyone.

We're having both daughters, Son in Law and his parents over tonight and tomorrow. Snowing big time, too. Here's a photo of my truck in cold storage.

T'was the night before Christmas, an old Chevy sits in my garage, No Fords, or Lincolns, Not even a Dodge,
My classic truck was polished perfection, hoping to pass Santa's inspection, 4 new tires were placed by the chimney with care hoping St. Nicholas would fill them with air.
When all of a sudden there was a thunderous roar, Santa started my truck and opened the garage door.
With a wink of his eye, he sped off out of sight, My stepside was gone in the dark of the night!
I awoke the next morn, my mind full of fear. Did Santa trade my truck for eight tiny reindeer?
Then all became clear as I opened the door. Santa preferred reins and a sleigh to my 4 on the floor.
I grinned a big smile at what I found inside. T'was a note from Santa sayin' "thanks for the joyride"
He'd filled my garage with presents galore. A new carb and some spark plugs. He left my keys in the door.
The note clearly said that he'd not return soon, but he promised to visit on a warm night this June.
Said he'd be wearin' Bermuda shorts, and a shirt Mrs Claus would be choosin' I should have the tank full 'cause he wants to go cruisin'.
Merry Christmas to all of you from here at Stovebolt HQ.
And rejoice!
"...For, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord!" Luke 2:10-11

I had Christmas with my son his wife and my 17-year-old grandaughter BTW 18 in February as I sit here I can envision her first and it seems like yesterday. They were discussing college, her mother graduated from Purdue 50 miles from home and I U where my son graduated 70 miles from home, but no decision was made.:ohwell:

Counting down now to a new year. I have a signature line for one of our email accounts for 2023 that says: "It has got to get better than this. "
Indeed.

Happy New Year to all. Hope everyone's is a healthy, happy, and prosperous one.
We rounded the corner about 11 days ago, and the days are now getting LONGER!!! We celebrate the Winter Solstice every year. because we start gaining daylight back. Pretty soon the sun will hit our house in the morning before noon! It needs to get around the mountain to the southeast of us in the dead of winter.

Well, I was wrong. I went to KFC 24 miles round trip. The doors are locked and the sign on the door says, WE close at 6 o'clock. It was 5 thirty. There were cars in the drive-up. Ok, let's do a drive-up. I sat for 10 minutes. Then I got up to the drive and nobody answered so I hollered finally a young muttered something indelible that she repeated 3 times I gathered they only had nuggets and slaw. So I Left and so did the car behind me. I came home and fixed chicken and rice for my meal.
