Seems like it's coming from about the middle, around cylinders 3&4. Sounds like a loose nut is moving around somehow. i've removed the valve cover and nothing obvious. The engine runs fine and sounds fine other than the rattle. I've removed the pushrod cover, nothing to report. it's definitely inside the engine. any ideas? thanks a bunch, Many Blessings,

Runs better than it should 👠| | | | | Joined: Jan 2019 Posts: 2,243 Herder of Cats, Goats, and Sheep (moderator) | | Herder of Cats, Goats, and Sheep (moderator) Joined: Jan 2019 Posts: 2,243 | Have you checked the lash on the valves? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 734 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 734 | If you're convinced the valves are properly adjusted, removing oil pan may be your best option to find a loose nut. That's not a terrible thing, just kinda messy.

If you put the timing back to where it was before, does the noise go away or is it just coincidence that the noise occured after retiming?
