Greetings All,

I finally made it! Growing up in the county around the Windsor, Ontario region, I've always had a passion for Chevy pickup trucks. I always drove one, but I always wanted something classic. Life can get busy, and dreams gets put on hold. Now at 59 years old, I was able to make it a reality. I didn't have the time or know-how to start from scratch. I'm no mechanic, but I know how to turn a wrench pretty well and I did look forward to spending some time on upgrades and puttering. That's when I found this fine example in Michigan (see pics). It is so cool driving around in this truck. It's so mechanically raw, if you know what I mean. It feels somewhere between driving a truck and driving a tractor. I'm really looking forward to teaching my 17 year-old grandson to drive it and share in the pride and pleasure of crop-touring around the county. Anyway, I'm sure there's lots more to come from me, so I'll wrap it up for now. Check out the pics and let me know what you think! Again, glad to finally be a member of this fine group.

Welcome to the Bolt!

What a saaweet looking truck! It is amazingly clean ... all over. And it's super that you'll be able to do some cruising around already. Be sure to write about some of those early driving trips in this thread dedicated to driving a Stovebolt (The Driving Report). Great way to share with us.

Be prepared for all the waves and honks and smiles. Those are always great. thumbs_up

And teaching the 17 year old ... that may be an adventure. wink Unless driving a clutch is not foreign to him. But always great memories!! Gotta make and keep them!

You might also want to check in with your local Bolters. We have a Great Lakes region for that. They have some events already posted in there. Possibly you'll get a chance to meet some of "us" at one of them.

You are right about these trucks being so simple. I always have liked looking under the hood. But if you are needing some wrenching help, The Shops Area is where you can post those.

It's a 1938. I looked at all models around that era, and the scallops in the grill around the headlights really sold me on that year!

1962 C10 with a 235 6cyl -- all of the drive train seems to be original.
Some of this story is in the Side Lot
