After working for the past 2 yaers, my truck (1941 Chevy G506 1 1/2 ton tipper) is is almost complete. The truck has the orginal hoist (Hercules) and the original bed. Everything has been rebuilt with NOS or rebuilt orginal parts.. The engine has been upgraded to a 1955 235. The cab came from a donor truck and the firewall is NOS. All sheetmtal forward of the firewall is military specific as are the instruments (gauges). This site has been very helpful in the restoration. So I am now in the process of finising the truck's new home in its brand new garage.

42chevy - that's a mail address, not a website - do you have your pics uploaded to a host someplace? if so you need to go to the page, copy the full address from your browser address bar and paste that here for a link

if you don't have them already on the net, then pull out the ol Glove Box book and check the picture posting page cuz we can always use a new picture fix here! grin

That is a very good looking military truck.

Any more pictures?

Put that to work (hauling air, maybe (after all, ya wouldn't want to mess it up!) and that would be a nice addition to upcoming "Big Bolts doing Real Work" calendar.

To answer a few questions, I do not collect any other military stuff. I will add a few pics. I used it to haul dirt when we were putting in the new propane tank (at the time I did not have the cab on). Also I just added some pics to show why I did not make it to the ATHS convention in Baltimore, after changing my second flat tire on the Baltimore Beltway, I trialered it home. Also have some shots of her in ACTION hauling dirt.

After much discussion, it was determined that that I did not have enough air pressure. I was running 35 psi, As was specified on the tire (6 ply 11.00x18 tubeless "Gamma Goat", the original DUKW tires were 12 ply. Tires, tubes, flats were all new.I am now running 50 psi. Looks like the tube was chaffing against the tire, because of the low pressure. These tires are a high flotation type. I have the orginal 7.50 x 20 wheels/tires, but I like the look of the combat wheels smile

I really like your truck. It is really cool. I have one question however. Wouldn't it have had dual rear wheels as a dump truck? I've never seen a single tire military dump.

Yes the truck originally came with dual rear tires, However, field mods (mostly done by the French) placed DUKW tires on these trucks because they were a high flotation tire, However you could run duals on the front axle if you were in mud or sand
