Hello All,

We wanted to say hello and introduce you to "Uncle Albert". We drove him home Saturday. Picked him up at a farm auction at a great price. We are really excited to have him here. I could go on and on about him, will keep it short for now.
I have submitted pics and story to the gallery. We will have lots of questions. Stovebolt has been a great help already. The following link will take you to some distorted thumbnails. The actual pics are much better! Let us know what you think. We welcome all opinions and suggestions!!

Thanks for the fine welcome!

We spent the evening making a list of needed/missing parts. Re-checking the serial number info, and looking for the block number. The best # we came up with for the block is right behind the distributor, on a small plate that reads S0814P (?? on the P). Need to wait for daylight to dig deeper on that one!! Rick reports that the brakes need attention. And the entertainment begins!!

Plans? Well, the original idea he sold me on was he would be a replacement for a feed wagon that has hauled it's last load of cattle feed. There were 3 at the sale. A 48 without a lift, standard cab. A 48 with working lift, 5 window deluxe (uncle albert). And a 49 with lift, standard cab. The 49 had am amatuer metallic blue paint job, alot of body putty and many missing parts. I could give you the selling prices, but I don't want you to ruin your keyboard when you spit your coffee all over it!!
The plan as of today is as back to original as is reasonable. He will still be hauling cattle feed. Brake adjustment and all lights operational is first on the list.

The sell job was to get me and the checkbook to the auction to look!! I've aleady told him, "you bought him, but I claim him!"
(I don't get that "Mam" very often, makes the cheeks tinge a little red.) I always preferred the trucks over the dolls. I'm loving this. I can change the oil, change a flat, etc, and id all the major components, but after that my grease monkey ability starts fading fast. So if I slip on something, Sorry.

In my neck of the woods trucks like that sell for under a grand.. the big square states are fertile with this old iron in solid condition.. folks to the east and west arent so fortunate.

My father-in-law bagged a '73 GMC Big 'un with a side dump at a local auction for $500.. but a little gas in the tank and in the carb, and drove it home.

Uncle Albert is one mighty fine looking truck! Congratulations on the purchase, and welcome to the Big Bolts!

Here in Maryland you rarely see the old bolts at auctions any more and seldom in that good condition, development is sqeezing the farmers out.Like gasanaspark we have to curb our jelousy urges when we see something that nice.

We've got Uncle Albert in the gallery now. Check it out the pix.

We may need to get June to update her gallery submission already with this extra info!
