Welcome to the 'bolt, please post some pix of your truck. It must have a pretty steep gear in the rear end to only go 38 mph!

Another quality post.

Welcome to the “Bolt”! Assuming you have the stock rear that came with the truck, stock 3100’s came with a 4.11 rear and is good for at least 50-55 MPH. At that speed they are a bit noisy, but these old Stovebolts can take it! Even at that speed, they are only doing 2400-2700 RPM.

With that said, I have a 4.11 in my ‘52 with a ‘59 235 and I feel your pain. I also plan on either changing the gearing in the rear to 3.55 or installing a T5 tranny with the appropriate rear.

This is a great forum to get you where you want to go with your truck! See you around the garage forum!

The garage is the list of forums they are broke down down to many groups. Click on forums and scroll down you will see the list. Tech tips is a great library as well. See it top right of page. First thing in welcome centre section. First forum list is how to put pictures in your post. Read it first.

FYI, you cannot put photos in your profile. You can, however, put them in any forum except the Greasy Spoon Forum. Instructions are in the left margin of every page unless your on a cell phone.

As you scroll down the list of the different forums the official title is "Shop Area Forums". Why they call them Garage Forums here I have no idea.

Hope that helps. Welcome to the Bolt!
