Just stopped in to say hello. My name is Rob and I'm from the cold north. Edmonton, Alberta Canada. I have just taken on a unfinished project from my dad's estate.
It is a 1952 GMC 9300 Deluxe cab 5 window 1/2 Ton. It has I believe a 235 in it, with a 3 on the tree. I've been dealing with some issues, like wrong bolts, screws, and etc. Will try and post pictures soon.
Also, spray foam everywhere, as in behind the fuel tank and in the cab corners, my father had it painted just before he passed, close to the original blue that it had come in.
It has also been converted to a 12 volt system.

Bob, Welcome to the Stovebolt. Consider yourself at home. Lots of garage forums to ask your questions and guys here that can answer them. Sounds like your father gave you a good start on the restoration.

You might want to leave some of your fathers "work" as a reminder of him. (I am leaving the dent in the grill of the vehicle my father willed me along with some Arizona mud that splashed on it while he was bombing around the wilderness).

Welcome to the site Rob. Hope your shop is heated, heard about that -44 weather you had a few days ago. You must have the Canadian version of GMC, Chevy powered. Good luck with it and be sure to ask if you run stuck.

Welcome to the “Bolt”! Sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have a nice project. You’ll be thinking of Dad every time you work on it. You have the GMC version of my ‘52 Chevy 3100. I also have a 235 in mine, although a transplant from a ‘59. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. The guys/gals on this forum are great, extremely knowledgeable and willing to help.

Thanks BC59. Unfortunately it didn't come cheap, cause my father and I had talked, and he thought I was was going to customize it. Well in order to keep siblings happy I paid a pretty penny for it. But not close to appraised value. It is a driver not a concourse build by any means. But now it's mine and I will keep my father's wish. It will not become a restomod. The next one well!!!!! We're not sure. LOL. I would like for it to look pristine as she looks with proper hardware. The body shop we had used before his passing said that we should use 1" wood well that looked like a@@ and I had decided to have it shaved down. Well that didn't work out well for me either. So new Hickory is being planed and sanded and finished as we speak, on this forum.

Also he had bear claws added to the doors, for ease of closure as he was aging. He also had the box side ends closed up as well as the stake pockets.
I also noticed a light under the dash, what the heck is that. Then I turned the key on and it lit up. I guess so he wouldn't forget the key was on. LOL

Funny little things you find. OP had put the starter button in the dash where the cigarette lighter would of been.

If the trucks running a alternator the light could be there to excite the alternator. Once the truck starts up the light should go out and the alternator starts charging, regardless of engine rpm.
