Hi All,

My 50 Canopy Express has what appears to be an original fuse panel (two clip type) mounted in the upper driver side kick panel area. Weren't these originally mounted in the engine compartment on the firewall?

Does anyone have a pick with the original mounting location? I want to install some kick panel speakers and need to relocate the fuse panel since it's in the way.

Thanks!

Mine has the the small fuse box on the firewall just like Brads, but also has the the one like tclederman posted on the driver side kick panel.

Did the 1950 series come with the full size fuse box/panel? I don't see holes for it on my firewall. My truck is a Canopy express not sure if they were originally installed in the kick panel area. In any case I need to relocate it to the firewall. Any additional input would be appreciated.

Thank you!

What intrigued me was the hourmeter(?) toward the center top of the firewall. Shows up in the first picture, but not the second. I have seen orange windshield washer fluid, so that wasn't surprising to me.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.

The 1947-Mid-49’s should be like this, the 5-fuse panel, wiring harness is different for this purpose, this GMC truck I owned was a low mileage original. They should not have the two OEM, adding the other panel would give you a lot more fused circuits though. This is from the 1948 owners manual, you can see photo and instructions show the 5-fuse box only.

Here you can see the page from the 1950 owners manual, 2-fuse block only.

The jar was a NOS Windshield Washer accessory (the jars are dated by year). I use orange Rainx fluid because it does not freeze.

The small black box is a period correct Chevrolet dealer service minder, it rewinds with a small key, they are fairly rare and usually don’t come with a key.

Thanks Brad, That's a cool little gadget. Does it count down somehow?

No they just roll it to the miles interval so the owner can see.

So it's like the stickers they used to put on the door jamb.
