I have a 55 first series 3100 with a 283 small block V8 and a 3 speed on the tree. I would like to change to an automatic transmission. Anyone have any tips or tricks on doing this or a list of parts needed or a source of information. Anyone done this before that could share their experience in time and difficulty.

Well, what comes to mind right off is, the trans itself, a flexplate and the bolts, a tailshaft cross member, a trans cooler, a starter, some sort of a shifter and probably have to rework your driveshaft too. I'm sure I'm missing something but you have a pretty good list to start with,

Should change the rear end ratio also, geared way to low for a auto.
