John,
I am talking about the channel lined by cloth that the glass slides in as it goes up and down. The two pieces should go on both sides (for and aft) of the glass from top to bottom, but not over the top when the window is all the way up. I know some people have it go over the top but I don't think it was that way from the factory.

My fuzzy channel goes over the top on my '38.

John,
You are correct. That channel is supposed to extend down to contain the soft channel for your glass. Kent is also correct about the original soft channel, however, as a practical matter, a one piece, soft channel from lower front to lower back is an excellent option. I like the channel without the chrome bead. It looks better and is MUCH easier to work with. Mine stuffed in so snug that I did not fasten it in place.
I think I have a pair of NOS running boards for your truck. I will check this afternoon.
I have a 1936 Low Roof 1-1/2 ton...look at it here, if you want. https://vccachat.org/ubbthreads.php...w-roof-semi-lots-of-pics.html#Post216672
I also am about to start a 1938 Suburban project.

Kent, Wayne and Mike, thanks for the input. So how long should the hard channel be? The one in My door is only about 1 1/2” long.
I guess things will make more since when I have all parts in hand.
Been glass shopping. Any suggestions?

Mike, Would be interested in running boards. Pm me

Shot doors and interior door panels with 2 k primer and hung on truck.
Original stock radiator back in truck and working on sheet metal above radiator.
My truck has 4 metal strips that hold this in place. Wondering if this is a repair or these strips are original?

the metal strips are a repair. my top plate is cut short to make room for moving the radiator forward. I have a GMC motor that is longer than the Chevy.

That top panel should bolt directly to the side pieces. I can get a better look at one tomorrow and maybe send you some pics. I will send pics of the running boards to the email in your profile. The hard channel should go down to where the window rests when it is all the way down. There is a shelf in there that should have a rubber pad on it so the metal bottom glass channel will not squeak or rattle when it rests there.

As you can see in Wayne's photos, the '38 is a different arrangement that your '37. The '38 has a narrow band over the top of the core and a flat panel to fill between the radiator and the grille. A single, shaped panel does all of this on the '37.

john duglos In your tranny look at the space between the brass synchronizer ring and the gear,if the 3 are about equal probably OK if to close may want to grind easily when you shift. Look closely at the teeth on the gear where the shift collarengages it these teetth will be hidden when in gear, If the teeth are chipped-up it means they have been ground into gear and are more likely to jump out of gear. hope that helps Also if the shift collars too easily go in gear by hand it means a lot of wear.

Drove truck around farm today sitting on a milk crate and running off boat tank. Engine sounds great. Unfortunately have to put away till next fall. May paint doors and install windows and seals this summer.

Hello John my name is John Zimmer I also have the same 37 truck I swapped the 216 for a 235 and I’m having problems with getting the clutch and throughout bearing to work properly I’m wondering if you swapped engines and how did you get the clutch to work properly. I know that the 37 was a single year design so I had to swap bell housing to a later one which changed the clutch fork etc. I just want to pick someone’s brain so I can get this truck on the road. Thanks
