For those of you who stayed at the Super 8, how was your experience? Anyone stay at the Argosy? If so how was it? Feel free to share your experience with any other of the motels close by. After our past trouble with temporary Stovebolt HQ and the drug paraphernalia in the parking lot, I’m curious if moving to the Super 8 was a good choice. Was it good enough you would stay there again?

Not so Super 8 -
Well, I think that it was "ok", and just ok. Yes, I would stay there again because it was tolerable and close to the event. You get what you pay for I suppose.
a. The sheets were stained as well as the pillow cases, but otherwise seemed clean. The room appeared clean.
b. The toiletries were minimal, one bar of soap, but three bottles of shampoo.
c. The wash cloth and towels.........I have shop rags in better condition than the wash cloth.....as in singular, one....
d. Breakfast choices..........minimal.
e. Parking lot was fine.
f. Had no issues with other guests or anyone outside the hotel.
g. Hotel staff was present. Ok, sort of friendly if you initiated the conversation, otherwise seemed like they didn't want to be there either.

I give it 2 stars out of 5.........and one of those stars is just because I'm a nice guy.

I stay at the Briarcliff Marriott. Been staying there for the last 4 trips down. It's only 5 years old and is very nice. It's close enough that I can see the casino from the hotel,

We are with Kevin, Vicki and I will find somewhere else.
Our TV didn't work, plus what everyone else has said.
It would also be nice if you could understand the employees.
You had to flip a switch next to the door for the frig to work.

The last time I had accommodations like that, I was getting shot at by rockets and mortars in a dusty foreign country. By the second night at the Super 8, I was looking for scorpions and camel spiders, so I could stage a cockfight. Ah, good times.

Scott Ward just might have the right idea. You would think that Wyndham (parent company of Super 8) would provide better oversight/control of their hotels. Sounds to me like the site management just doesn’t care. You would think their close proximity to the Argosy would keep them on their toes. Perhaps some strongly worded email from several members to their corporate HQ are in order. It’s hard for those of us who don’t live or travel in the area frequently to know where the bad hotels are located. The travel sites aren’t much help.
Keep the reviews coming so better plans can be made for next year.

My room was just ok. I didn't use the TV. The bath tub was a near disaster, since the spout was loose. There was a nice hole in the bathroom door and the frame was duck taped on to the wall. The A/c was on point tho, except I forgot to turn it on saturday. The entire place needs a chinese field day!!

On a positive note. One of the employees was pretty good about checking the parking lot security. She came out while I was poking around in the back of my truck, and also when we were messing with Scott's truck.

There are some decent hotels up toward the airport, short drive up I-29.
Hiatt and La Quinta to mind.

FYI, I contacted Wyndham corporate and filed a complaint on behalf of our members who stayed at the Super 8. Waiting on their response. I suggest all who had a bad experience leave negative feedback on the motels website.

Well to my surprise I got a email from Wyndham. The Super 8 at Riverside, Mo., is not a Wyndham corporation hotel. It is a franchisee operation. They admitted that site has a lot of negative feedback, so, they do read reviews. Apologies were offered. I sent a reply thanking them for responding and suggested that Wyndham might just want to consider pulling the franchise from the current owners, due to the overwhelming negative feedback on social media. It is what it is.

Interesting, I sent the manager of a Travelodge (also a Wyndgham franchise) in Seattle that I stayed at an e-mail, pointing out the substandard condition of the site and suggesting improvements. We also stayed at another Travelodge just a few miles away at the start of the trip, and it was like day and night in comparison.

...Crickets

Maybe I should have posted a review to their website instead.

My room was OK, but that is about all I can say. As has been said not enough towels or wash clothes. Breakfast was SAD. The second night I bought stuff at Quick Trip and had better food. My wife has already said that if she come we will not be staying there. I probably will look for something else next time, even if I have to drive a bit to get there.

Scott, we'll check it out next year.
It is a nice hotel and the rates are reasonable.
Plus it is close to the show.

Vicki and I may be headed to Memphis this weekend and staying a block away from Beale street.
Blues Beer & BBQ weekend!

If we get enough interested, maybe we can ask for a group rate...

It does gave an outdoor gathering space with a fireplace. There's also conference rooms and an indoor open space. Food for thought,
Scott

Sounds like a great upgrade from the less than Super 8.
Does the parking lot have plenty of space for trailers?

A little steep for my budget. I would have to reserve a room and then sublet it to 6 other people. dang
