There has been a lot of behind the scene discussion and planning going on about the Reunion.
One of the topics is short tech seminars.
So we need some ideas on what folks want to learn about or demonstrate.
I'm planning on bringing the 48 Chevy "Chalk Board" and we can use it as a demo truck to play with.
Such as setting timing, points, spark plug gap, and an easy way to clean spark plugs.

We also have to mention Jerry (Hotrod Lincoln) also for the great "How to read a Mic" lesson he did a couple years ago.

Other past topics were anvils, more tool demos and we even had an old engine block one year, tore down and inspected.

What about topics for the fairer sex to discuss and share knowledge?
Knitting, sewing and hand made crafts. My wife Vicki is very talented in those areas. But she is rather shy.
Maybe Ron can do a talk about one of those topics?
Heck we could have a mini craft show. Bring something you made and proud of to show off. No sales though.

So give us your thoughts and ideas. This is a group participation event to meet, greet and learn.

Got a tech topic I do want to do.
I have a potential Stovebolt buyer for the 48. But he is way up east and will have to ship it.
So truck pre buy inspection would fit right in.
What to look for when buying an old vehicle. We can really point out a lot of things with a group. Good and bad.
If I get permission to use his handle, It will let folks know who it is and they can PM him with their thoughts about the truck.
I will not reveal the quoted price to anyone. But suggested sell prices will be welcome.

Not too many buyers can get this type of evaluation.

We will also have a Buckeye toss this year.

And it sounds like you will do a talk about two of the topics I mentioned.
Needle point and intarsia wood working?
At least bring a few examples of what you have made yourself.

Does anyone know enough about Hydrovac to discuss it? My two ton 6400 has one and I'd like to make sure it works.

I have never worked on a Hydrovac brake system.
But I bet Scott (48bigtrucks) will be happy to share his knowledge about how they work and repair procedures.

Maybe a seminar on "Rust Repair Best Practices"
Probably deal with it a lot more in Michigan, but always curious on techniques for Cleaning up rust and Proper Metal Preparation/Neutralization.
What tools and products work best? What primer and paint do you use?

Rust repair can be mixed in with the truck evaluation.
We will have a white dry erase board and will post a schedule for the info sharing chats/demos.

With Don's permission, I plan to put out parts that are no longer useful to me from 1954. The only thing is when I look back I wish I had known about the fact someone else could have used the parts that I threw away. I won't list them but that they were good serviceable items. Yes, I will bring some things that some will ask why but my attitude is just don't bother with them. Thanks all.

I think Ron has a good idea. Set up a table or 2 with free items. Anyone can bring parts that might be useful that we would throw away or don't want to store them any longer.

Vicki and I plan on having three tables, the Stovebolt awning and another awning.
One table will be needed for the Stovebolt awning.
One table for the T-Shirt distribution and one for the door prizes.
If anyone has an awning or table to bring, it will give us more space to kick back in and have the meeting.
If anyone wants to add to the door prizes, bring them!
Looks like we'll be in a parking lot this year.

This is the truck I'll have at the Reunion.
We'll have a discussion on what to look for when buying an old vehicle.
Then those that look it over can send PM's to mikec4193 who is a member of Stovebolt.
He is in upstate New York and then decide if he wants it.
Hope to load it on the trailer tomorrow.
