I've decided that I've had it with the Mr. Gasket (or maybe Mattel) throttle pedal in my 64 C10.

I originally installed it so that I could eliminate the mechanical linkage when I put the Carter AFB carb on it.

The cable thing is a real good idea. But it has always had a slight bind in it when coming off idle. That makes it extra hard to drive in traffic. So it's comin out.

I just pulled the throttle pedal, cable and mounting bracket out of my 74 organ donor truck. But it looks like the cable on it is gonna be too short.

Anyone have any ideas what vehicle might have a longer cable?

I switched out my '68 Chevy truck bellcrank/pushrod accellerator linkage for a '72 Chevy truck cable unit. Lokar cable in place of stock. I don't know what a '64 Chevy truck used but I guess it's not that different fron the '67/'68s...

I just got a cable for a 75 Monte Carlo. It's only 24" so I'm not sure if it'll be long enough. I'll give it a shot, tho.

If that doesn't work, I spose I'll need to try the Lokar cable. I think the universal cable ( p/n TC-1000U36 ) would be my best shot at it.

Btw, the Mr. Gasket cable snapped yesterday about 3 miles from my house. I'm sure glad that 292 has a lotta torque, cuz I idled it home. Even got into 4th gear (downhill.) But considering some of the hills I had to climb, I was sure glad for the "granny" 1st gear. It was more fun than eatin rocks. But it got me home. That's something to be grateful for.
