I have a 55 first series 3100 that I bought in 1977 (I think). It served as my main transportation for years...then moved to secondary rig later. It made trips from Kansas (where I bought it) to Mississippi (Navy station) to Oregon (College) and then to Upper East Tennessee (work) and finally back to Oregon. Never gave me any issues. I mostly drove at night in the summer because of no air conditioning and had to keep extra gas cans in back because of crappy gas milage and distance between gas stations open at night on Interstate 70. Speed limit was 55...so it wasn't straining too hard on these trips. The truck has been in my garage since 1999 or so, and I'm finally getting around to getting it back in shape to drive on the road. I got the engine fired up again last weekend after multiple carburetor adventures, so progress is being made. Thanks for the help...both past and future! Sam

Just jump in it and take off! Try this.......I took a little off both ends of the link you posted.
Note: I put this in my browser https://www.flickr.com/photos/140478115@N02/41465009375/in/album-72157696686349464/ and it let me look at the picture but when I post the link here it says the following:

So it looks like I need to post a few more times before the pictures will work? So I'll tell a little more about my truck. I'm the third owner...the first was the owner (I think) of a little oil company in Geneseo, Kansas. He died, and the company put his truck up on blocks even though it only had 35K or so miles. Merl Ecklund (2nd owner) kept bugging them about wanting to buy itand they finally let him have it after 7 or 8 years. He had the engine rebuilt, painted it in his driveway (67 ford green with white top because of Kansas heat.

When the owner died, they put "his" truck up on blocks one of their buildings. Merl (2nd owner) kept bugging them to sell it and they finally did in 67. It had 35K miles and he had the engine overhauled and painted it in his driveway (67 ford green).
Merl bought a junkyard 54 chevy truck and took off all the parts he thought he would ever need and stored them in boxes. He gave me this stash when I bought the truck. He also took the spare tire holder off the old truck and put it on his/my truck after banging out the fender to hold a spare. He was a lineman and got called out for power outages in stormy Kansas weather. He mounted 2 mud & snow tires on his double spares and was always ready for snow or mud. He also hunted around junkyards and such to locate six 15" tubless wheels (got rid of the 16" tubes) that would fit the baby moon chevy hubcaps,
Now I should be up to post 5 and able to post pictures?

I'd keep it just the way it is.
