Hey everyone, hope to be at owner of a 1955 first series 1 ton soon but wanted to get some opinions on this one before I do. Do you think it's worth $2k to give based on the pictures attached or should I move on to the next deal? I'm concerned that it's been sitting for 10 years and floor looks rough (probably not an easy fix). Title confirms it's a 55 and appears to have a 235 from around 1959 (checked block number). Has dump bed, guessing aftermarket thinking original was 1 hydraulic, and all trim seems to be there. So you think it's a good deal to get started in this game called restoration?
Also, consider yourself lucky that the title has the 1955 Vehicle Serial Number on it rather than the 1959 Engine Serial Number (at least, that is what it looks like based on your posts above)?
Rough?? Looks pretty darn solid to at least me......or maybe its just me that always gets the basket cases. Go for it. A truck, especially a dump truck, will always pay its way. Get before someone else drives it away!
You can't go wrong at 2K. Put 1500 in an envelope. After you make you last walk around, pull the envelope from your pocket and extend it to them and say, "Will you take 1500 cash for the truck?" Be prepared to accept his counter-offer, even if it's the 2K.

I was going to say the same thing. I would be tempted on this truck if it were in my area, looks like a really fun project. Go for it!!

Just because we “talked me into it”, doesn’t mean you get to blame us for all the blood, sweat and tears along with the large quantities of cash rushing out the door. Dirty looks from the significant other are on you buddy. Enjoy!ðŸ‘ðŸ»

If you've ever worked on an old house you know that every time you remove one board to fix a problem you find two more problems that need attention. It's the same with these old trucks. I've learned that every project takes at least twice as long as I think and costs 3 times what I plan for. By the time you get it "fixed up" the $2K will be just a fraction of your investment of time and $$. If you enjoy the process it's all worth it but don't plan on making any money on it. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Been a little bit since I've got back on here. Bought the truck and is awaiting restoration... once I get the time lol. Building a house now so this project is next!
