I checked it out, looks like a great deal. I really like the copper metallic. Would look good on my Burb, which is now F#$d light mossy green. Thanks for the info!@ Smitty

Yeah, I'm sick of paying big bucks for paint. darn stuff just fades in the TexAss sun anyway....

smittyschevy, I am also looking real heavy at the Liquid Copper, or a tangerine, bronze, or the amber fire colors for my 52 panel. I think it would look great.

I spent the better part of this afternoon with a fellow that has been painting and doing body work for over 30 years. He and I have been really good friends for about 10-12 years. We were talking about the plans for my panel and I ask him "point blank" about this thread and about tractor paint and "other" stuff. He took me back to his paint room and showed me all the different brands from PPG/Dupont to tractor paint and some I didn't even recognize. What he uses most is the 50 a gal stuff and told me, and SHOWED me some cars he has done. Guys, they look dang good. A doctor he and I both know and who he does work for has been driving a mercedes, and a jeep and a 76 chevy that has the cheap stuff on them.....for several years in one case. Like T.C. says, do the prep right and most any paint if applied correctly and maintained will last for a looong time. His comments were most folks today are looking for the "easy way" and it gets more expensive. I'm no body man but I do see his work. He gives folks what they want. You want big dollar paint he will give it to you. Given that there are exceptions to most all things he admits that some of the stuff is junk....but as he says, you try it...if it is good and you like it do it again. I'm sure he has paid the price along the way but he has learned a lot. So, I think I will try some of the cheap stuff...and maybe even what is mentione on this thread as it has a lot of the colors that some other "cheaper brands" don't carry....and remember, sometimes it is just cheaper because it doesn't have the NAME BRAND NAME on it!! OK..I'm through. Go back to work :p

If you watch "American Hot Rod", Boyd Coddington's painter uses Nason & Omni paint on those hot rods Boyd builds. Brian

And, is your point that, that is cheap paint Brian??? Pardon my ignorance but I have never heard of Nason & Omni paint.
I have a friend, who owned a body shop and now builds street rods. He uses only PPG from the local paint supplyer and he has not used these cheap paints. But he says that he has heard that they do not have as much solids in them and that you have to apply more coats to get the coverage. Any one else heard that???

I used a metallic burgandy from Trinity, Kit on Ebay, and the whole truck ,my daily 91 Chev truk, was rough, didn't lay flat, had orange peel, no shine. I had my neighbor, autobody painter, by trade look/help. We had no idea of what happened. If this was my toy i"d been pi$$ed. Don't know if it was old paint or whatever but I 've had better luck with locally bought NAPA or tractor paint. I just painted my 4t6 last week with tractor paint and was more than happy. Two gallons of paint, two hardener, from Tractor Supply and reducer bought at Ace Hardware less than a C note. Not all colors available but thats the choice you make. Not a pro just my opinion.

hello new here to this forum , nice looking site by the way , I have done all my own paint and bodywork myself for the past 20 year's and although this is a good deal on the enamel I would not use it , the best bang for the buck right now is ppg omni ,,
now that enamel would be good to spray your frame or inner fender's stuff like that but I would not want it on the outer body of anything ,,,

The only paint that my local Tractor Supply has is the Rustoleum type that is thinned with mineral spirits.

Nason products work good. They are made by Dupont.

I have used "Iron Gaurd" for frame applications with good results. It can be had in both gallons and quarts for spraying, and also in a spray bomb can. It is an enamel that is used in implement applications.

I have used the Omni brand paints with success, but prefer to use the original PPG/Dupont "expensive" paints for the body. I think they produce better overall results.
