I got the bus home Saturday. Ran like a champ. We did some driving around town and on the freeway. Seems to top out around 50-55, but that's around 2800-3000 RPM. Fun to drive and the kids loved it. Still lots of work to do, but it will be fun to do things in it this season anyway.

that is what my 58 2-ton spins. 3,000 @ 50mph, 3600 @ 60 and 4200 @ 70. fun to drive but it sure likes gas! Your bus is looking good!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

nice looking bus.
That hose from the intake to the water pump "looks" kinked at the bottom, IIRC they make a moulded hose for that application.

Mike, I checked on a new ring and pinion, but if I go to a 3.73 I have to change the carrier as well and the whole swap would cost around $2500. Ouch. If I went with a 4.10 I wouldn't have to swap it and it would then run me $1500. I have some other things to do first on it so will have to wait.

Achipmunk, it was lots of fun and yes lots of looks and thumbs up.

Dune, that is the recommended, molded hose. It's still a pretty tight bend.

Looking good!
Is that your final color scheme? Seems like one time you showed us some color samples you were thinking about.

Well I still need to put the trim on the side. The colors will be flat black sides with red trim, grill and bumpers. The roof will be white along with the wheels. Interior wild be black upholstery with red piping, black steering wheel with red leather grip, paint the lower walls black, window posts and ceiling will be white and charcoal carpeted floor. Possibly later when I get the major bodywork done that I will flip the exterior color to glossy red and flat black trim. We'll see though. Just going to work on it as I enjoy it this streetrod season.
