Can you post a link to a photo of that 235 block casting code and "SPECIAL"?
What is the Engine Serial Number that is pressed into the block to the rear of distributor?

Put the curser on the address, Left click and it should hi-lite the entire address, then Right click and copy. Carry it here and then right click and Paste...done! Mike B

The format for Engine Serial numbers in 1956 was different. Regarding the "A" in : FI008A The A indicates a car engine (engine in a car with a standard transmission). The block most likely had hydraulic lifters (but, it could have been used with mechanical lifters). My bet, now, is that you have a factory replacement engine that was cast after 235s were regular equipment, perhaps cast in 1966 (maybe in 1976, if GM was still making replacement 235 blocks in 1976). Maybe someone else has other explanations/postulations/speculations? Do not get rid of that block. Even if it is bad, someone might want want it for its "peculiarity value". | | | | | Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 12 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 12 | no sir I don't plan on it! its actually still good was froze up when I got it but got it freed up and running somewhat wont stay idling for some reason. now I think I've got the timing messed up. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 12 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 12 | thanks for the input on it. if i ever find out anymore ill post it for you guys | | |
