Hello everyone. I am new to this site and I have come here seeking help in my project truck. I am from North Carolina and I am 19 years old. About 7 years ago my grandfather gave me this truck and I have been restoring and fixing it up since while putting my own twist on it. If anyone has any cool facts or information about this truck please let me know. I am also in need of suggestions or possible locations of a parts truck. Thank you :D

Go to this link, then scroll down to the bottom and click on Vehicle Information Kit. Eventually you select the year of your truck.

On this sites homepage there are links to parts vendors.

Welcome to the site.

Post a link to some pictures, if you have a reasonable way of producing some.

Welcome to the Stovebolt wave

As others have said, don't scrap your old MC, there are companies the specilize in sleeving them so they can be rebuilt. Apple Hydraulic is one company that comes to mind,

You COULD upgrade to a dual reservoir master cylinder;either get one with the same bore size for a drum brake truck or use one with the same bore size for a truck with front disc brakes and use an aftermarket adjustable proportioning valve in the front brake circuit. On my '54 GMC 2 ton I used a M/C for a GM one ton van-same sized bore, works so well it feels like power brakes, and I can load more or less front brake with the twist of a knob.

I just got a '54 GMC 630 and a replacing the wheel cylinders with new, thought of going hydroboost to replace the hydrovac, so, I am interested in your master replacement.

Did you replace or eliminate the hydroboost? Is that what it came with?

Thanks,

Ed

Exterior Cab parts, hardly any.

Interior Cab parts, very few.

Mechanically, most should work.

Pretty good deal there though.

I was afraid of that. I was wanting the windows to worm becuase I am very much in need of a windshield and side window. It's a good deal but the truck is about 5 hours away from me so hauling it would be an issue

Hy Isaiah, could you give us a rough measurement of the length of the kingpin, there are a couple of different options. For the tie rod ends there are at least two different possibilities, what size is the tie rod to cross tube thread?

Hy Isaiah, it looks like your truck has a 5000lb front axle, it should take Moog p/n 8492B $25.79 at RockAuto. That kingpin is 6.343" long, the 7000lb front axle kingpin is 7.890" so that is too long, hope that helps.

Rockauto or NAPA will have what you need. I find that Rockauto does a pretty good job with pictures and specs, i.e. spline counts, diameters, etc.

I have the 2 speed axle and the high low control is cable operated I guess you would say , it's not electric. It is extremely stiff. I went down to the box the cable goes to and oiled it it did not seem to help. Any other suggestions to loosen this up because I can't even shift driving it's so stiff. Also could I possibly lengthen this control because I have a shifter extension amd I'd like it to run up the shifter more. Thank you I'm advance for any advice

Isaiah, did you lube the cable itself? on mine, I sprayed the outer cable to lube it and it helped a lot.

if it is like my 55 and 58, that cable is only a couple feet long and most is inside the cab. Mine were just super dirty from years of dust from driving around in the fields.
