For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 | Hello everyone. I am new to this site and I have come here seeking help in my project truck. I am from North Carolina and I am 19 years old. About 7 years ago my grandfather gave me this truck and I have been restoring and fixing it up since while putting my own twist on it. If anyone has any cool facts or information about this truck please let me know. I am also in need of suggestions or possible locations of a parts truck. Thank you :D | | | | | Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 | https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/Go to this link, then scroll down to the bottom and click on Vehicle Information Kit. Eventually you select the year of your truck. On this sites homepage there are links to parts vendors. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 | Thank you for that. And to correct myself this is a 4500 truck. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 | I'm having a hard time finding a master cylinder for this truck that isn't 400$ the original one is too pitted to repair. Anyone have somewhere for me to find one cheaper? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 942 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 942 | Welcome to the site.
Post a link to some pictures, if you have a reasonable way of producing some.

On my '54 GMC 2 ton I used a M/C for a GM one ton van-same sized bore, works so well it feels like power brakes, and I can load more or less front brake with the twist of a knob. Did you replace or eliminate the hydroboost? Is that what it came with?
Thanks,

I was wanting the windows to worm becuase I am very much in need of a windshield and side window. It's a good deal but the truck is about 5 hours away from me so hauling it would be an issue | | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 | Hello gentlemen. Could someone please send me some links or part numbers for the front shocks on my truck. For the tie rod ends there are at least two different possibilities, what size is the tie rod to cross tube thread? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 | from what I can tell the kingpin is roughly around 7 inches does that sound right? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy Isaiah, it looks like your truck has a 5000lb front axle, it should take Moog p/n 8492B $25.79 at RockAuto. That kingpin is 6.343" long, the 7000lb front axle kingpin is 7.890" so that is too long, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 39 | | | | | | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 942 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 942 |

I find that Rockauto does a pretty good job with pictures and specs, i.e. spline counts, diameters, etc.

It is extremely stiff. I went down to the box the cable goes to and oiled it it did not seem to help. Any other suggestions to loosen this up because I can't even shift driving it's so stiff. Also could I possibly lengthen this control because I have a shifter extension amd I'd like it to run up the shifter more.
