But, I recently acquired the families 1946 GMC EC152. Well, this 46 EC152 has been in my families barn since the 70's and it was time to leave. Pulled it back to Grand Rapids and have started cleaning all the mice and taking inventory of the repair/replace list. Hoping to keep it a close to stock as possible. The plan is a rolling restoration. I'm on the hunt for new fenders and perhaps a newer bed. But, with my 4 kids, I should have plenty of help | | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 255 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 255 | Nice looking truck. Looks to be well preserved. Good luck with the restoration. Jim | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 168 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 168 | That is awesome! You'll find your GMC is unique in many respects. The forums at www.oldgmctrucks.com will be very useful to you. Make sure you document every little bit of it after you clean it and before you start tagging and bagging.

Welcome to the Bolt! | | | | | Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 16 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 16 | Thank you very much. I have the original engine soaking, but after 2 weeks haven't been able to turn it by the crank.
I have a lead on 56 235. I would assume this is still a bolt in swap?

Keep it all gmc and stay with a gmc engine. And no a 235 is not a direct swap.

You'll get a lot more info, ideas, and opinions there. Keep up the good fight. At least you picked a nice day to pull it out of the barn. :-)
Thanks

Not only is it a survivor but you have a personal connection to the truck...If it were mine I would suggest preserving it "as it" keep the patina and battle scars preserved with a clear coat and just focus on making it mechanically sound...bcs its only original once. You are very lucky indeed not many people can say they have a cool truck like that and say my "great grand-father owned it" and each scratch and dent tells a story. What ever you choose it will be a great project and welcome to the group! | | |
