Newish to the forum, I've done a bit of lurking.
But, I recently acquired the families 1946 GMC EC152.

Well, this 46 EC152 has been in my families barn since the 70's and it was time to leave.

Pulled it back to Grand Rapids and have started cleaning all the mice and taking inventory of the repair/replace list.

Hoping to keep it a close to stock as possible.

The plan is a rolling restoration. I'm on the hunt for new fenders and perhaps a newer bed.

But, with my 4 kids, I should have plenty of help

Nice looking truck. Looks to be well preserved. Good luck with the restoration. Jim

That is awesome! You'll find your GMC is unique in many respects. The forums at www.oldgmctrucks.com will be very useful to you. Make sure you document every little bit of it after you clean it and before you start tagging and bagging.

grtechguy, welcome to the Stovebolt. Great site you have chosen. And Wow, nice truck and a great story.
Go to the DIY Forum and start a thread and you can keep coming back to it and update as a lot of us like to follow along on the journey with you.....and some can even put it in the Gallery for you.
Good luck. Post questions in the most correct forum and get results. Folks here love to help out.

Thank you very much. I have the original engine soaking, but after 2 weeks haven't been able to turn it by the crank.

I have a lead on 56 235. I would assume this is still a bolt in swap?

Also started going through the brakes this evening.

Nice truck! Keep it all gmc and stay with a gmc engine. And no a 235 is not a direct swap.

gtechguy, since not everyone stops by the welcome centre each time they come in it'd be a good idea to post "questions" in the garage forums. You'll get a lot more info, ideas, and opinions there. Keep up the good fight. You'll never regret it!

Great truck. Looks like it is in pretty good shape.

At least you picked a nice day to pull it out of the barn. :-)

Thanks

What a great truck that is! Not only is it a survivor but you have a personal connection to the truck...If it were mine I would suggest preserving it "as it" keep the patina and battle scars preserved with a clear coat and just focus on making it mechanically sound...bcs its only original once. You are very lucky indeed not many people can say they have a cool truck like that and say my "great grand-father owned it" and each scratch and dent tells a story. What ever you choose it will be a great project and welcome to the group!
