I believe it's one of the 1-ton pickups, and my knowledge of them is severely limited. What's one in good, apparently unrestored running condition worth, and are they a worthwhile collectible? Jerry

I happen to like them... | | | | | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,084 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,084 | Jerry, I'm no expert, and I like the AD 1 ton's as well. I saw a fully restored one at a show last year with the 9' bed, very sharp. I can tell you what I've seen around Houston. Relative to 1/2 and 3/4's they are harder to find, I would say 3 to 1. Let's talk ranges, Bottom - never restored/not running - $1-$3K with $1K needing lots of body work/replacements. Middle - never restored but mostly kept indoors with minimal body work and most original parts there and motor running - $6-$12K, big range with bottom needing full paint job, but motor cranks and top being driveable to the feed store as is...all systems functioning well. Then fully restored to original $20-$30K depending on quality of work and materials. I'll keep an eye out for you in my area. Check your craigslist (I find Ebay unrealistic). I actually just bought a 3/4 ton complete parts truck out of Missouri and fellow delivered it...all in $1K. With low humidity, they tend to fair better outside up there(MO/Kansas). Good luck

It appears to be in running condition, with minimal rust, but that's just a first impression from a drive-by. The neighborhood is interesting- - - -a little island of poverty surrounded by upscale housing and a golf course, and it's been that way for 50-something years that I can remember. No telling what the asking price would be, and I've already got enough projects in the pipeline to last well into my 80's! Jerry

It has a really solid body and runs great. It doesn't have a box, it only had a dump bed. A fellow on a local classified here has a completely restored 1 ton and it has been for sale for months. He is asking $13,000 which I think I quite reasonable as the truck has been completely redone. http://m.kijiji.ca/classic-cars/llo...=CK&from=Search&ts=1430578744119 | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | I think the tonner is certainly a nice truck and from the pictures a good deal. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 241 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 241 | Hello Jerry; My 52 one ton pick up was running and would drive but had no operational cooling system. It had the after market hydraulic dump bead on it which I have removed. This truck was used for hauling grain in Saskatchewan and was a little beat up but overall condition was pretty good. I paid $3000 Canadian for it about 2.5 years ago which at the time was a bit high from what I found around the net. I would think the one Fox posted would be reasonable depending on the restoration done.

Nothing says "I am a he-man stud muffin" like rolling up to the cruise-in, completely crushing the 1/2-tons in coolness factor, in a 1-ton AD Pickup. Only the totally coolest, man-among-men ruggedly handsomeest studs are allowed to be 1-Ton owners. If you think you qualify, go ahead and join the club. But I warn you -- you'd better be prepared for the hordes of fabulously gorgeous women who will throw themselves at you in earnest desire ... and the men who will drown you in requests for advice on how to dress, what to eat, and just how to be so darned ... studly ... It is a burden, but we bear it. We bear it ... Just sayin' ....

If a 1-ton pickup can do that for a half-bald, 50 pound overweight wrench jockey so ugly he makes freight trains take dirt roads, sign me up! maybe I need 2 or 3 of them! Jerry

Will pickup a 1 ton soon though, getting too old to run from this many women. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 544 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 544 | And the best part, is being a one ton, your suspension will be able to handle the hoards of gorgeous women piling into the back of the truck.
A bagged half ton wouldnt make it 10 feet without scraping and bottoming out. | | | | | Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,732 24601 | | 24601 Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,732 | Excellent point, Jon! You have obviously been there and done that!

But it's true. I rolled up to a garage sale once and the 3 cute college girls on porch came running out, climbing on my 1 ton and asking for rides. I'm totally serious. 1 ton. I'll admit that more girls would fit in a 1 ton Suburban, but, alas, . .
