Noticed it only in 1st and 3 rd. I've parked it, but never been into the tranny, so I'm shut down until the problem is solved. It is a horrible loud grinding type sound. Sounds like metal grinding on metal. Does'nt happen in 1st or R. Need help in a bad kinda way!! PLEASE!

If it has failed there are used ones around, you could post and add in the Swap Meet here. Drained they weigh around 130 lbs and are fairly economical to ship on Greyhound if you had to, a lot cheaper than a rebuild most likely. | | | | Joined: Feb 2015 Posts: 14 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2015 Posts: 14 | Thanks Brad.... I am unsure about the availability of the older transmission parts. There is a robust parts network and rebuilders for everything SM420 and newer because the off-road guys use them to. You could try giving Novak a call for ideas, they are located in Logan, Utah and I have sold them a ton of cores, Google them. | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 | 3 or 4 speed trans? I've got a crash box 4 speed from a 1946 1 1/2 ton that's not doing anything, in south central Tennessee. Jerry

It can buy old Chevy trucks though.
