Hello Everyone,

The Burgers in Paradise location in Newport News will be closing down (and then later reopening as a Fuddruckers) so we need a different place to meet.

I spoke to a manager at The Freemason Abbey restaurant in Norfolk and they can host the gathering. I have also arranged for parking. Before I can solidify anything I will need a head and a vehicle(s) count in order to reserve enough seating and parking.

Here is a link to the restaurant Freemanson Abbey, look it over, take the tour, and view the menu. In order to get the group menu, we will need to have more than 20 people attend; here are two group menus to choose from.

Now worries Hambone, there will be other events to attend in the future. I'll see you at the Homecoming.

Mike,
Would you need a high chair or a booster for your child and what kind of truck will you be arriving in?

Carl,
If I am not mistaken, you have a '51?

Edit reason -
(Excuse the brain fart... if the name says 52 then it might be a 52.)

SWEET,
That is a good question. At first I was thinking that it was going to be a small gathering but we are currently at 19 and that's a good thing. I really wasn't expecting a certain number of people but I did reserve enough room for about 20 guests. Come Monday, I am to turn in a number of guest that are coming and when it's about a week out, a more solidified count.

I might be thinking too much into this but I was looking at recognizing some guest in a few categories like farthest traveled, oldest/youngest truck (doesn't need to be present), and (open to suggestions?)....

I also was reading up on an old event and someone suggested names tapes. Even though you all up north know each other but it will help is down here put a face to the name.

I'm open to any advise and suggestions.
.

Thanks Peggy you are right, I have been keeping up with the guest list with the first post. I'll bring it down so all can see the current list. If I am wrong with any info listed, please send in the corrections and I'll adjust the list.

Mario -

Thanks for the invite! Why don't you pencil me in as a strong maybe - but don't use me to hold a reservation.

My truck hasn't been on the road since 2009, but I've finally got some money in my pocket and am looking for local shops to help me bring it back to my life, having fully expensed the breadth of my automotive knowledge (depressingly little).

It'll probably just be me unless I can convince one of my girls to come with.

The link didn't work but I back-tracked to the spot. Oh man ... look at this:

Freemason Abbey has a traditional American menu which is reasonably priced featuring fresh lobster, pasta, fish, seafood, choice prime rib, sandwiches, salads and light entrees, as well as a full bar to compliment your dining pleasure.

Some of our signature items are: our award winning she crab soup, homemade artichoke dip and crab dip. Our Seafood Fantasia, Filet Mignon, and broiled Seafood Platter are some of our most popular entrees.

In addition to our regular menu, our chef's proudly create nightly chef additions to showcase their skills. Our varied menu has something for everyone!

We accept MC, VISA, AMEX, and DISCOVER.

We do not accept personal checks.

I just had lunch and am full ... but this write-up (and you should see the pictures) is making me hungry! chug

Let's try this link.

Then Bread, let us know what we need to tell you (lunch, dinner, etc.). Man I'm bringing a "doggie cooler" to bring some stuff home!! We don't get good seafood around these parts (which is odd).

Mrs. Peggy,
I would like to thank you for your help with better articulating the menu. I was in a rush this morning so that is me at my rawest.

I fixed the hyper link for the group menu so that everyone can look at them.

With the lunch group menu, the prices are a little cheaper than just ordering from the regular menu. It also helps the kitchen prepare and serve the orders faster.

What I need from all the guest to do is give their choice of group menu one or two. eek I should of started this in the beginning.
The menu with the most votes will be the menu we'll order from.

Thank you all for the support in bringing this gathering together.

Bread,

As you can see from the majority of responses ... these guys don't respond! You go ahead and pick. These are Stovebolters ... they know how to roll with the rotten tire. Oh, not that the food would be rotten ...

Even me. It all looks yummy.
