After installing ,my lights I attempted to install the trim rings. My issue is that my seal looks different than some of the pictures I have seen. I searched and found an article from 2012. I only have one thin seal for each light, my question is does the seal go between the trim ring and the fender(large outer part of trim ring) or does it go between the light and the trim ring (smaller) inner part of the trim ring.

the light goes in, then the trim piece that holds the bulb in.... and then the outer trim ring with the seal held in the outer trim ring with, I think, 4 clips.

If you've had damage repair on the front of the fender that outer trim ring can be a booger sometime.

thanks guys the picture shows that the seal is between the light and the ring, not the ring and the fender. So I will have to cut the seal to fit, it is too large that's why the confusion. i thought it went around the large outer ring !!??

stay tuned guys , this may go under electrical but the 3 wires from the head light : ground , high , low beam?

Yes, ground, high, and low.

Maybe I'm reading your reply incorrectly, but the round rubber seal
with the lip is in the rolled over edge of the molding (trim)
ring and seals the gap between the molding and the retainer
ring, it does not contact the headlamp at all:

does either of you know where I can get the protective cord looking stuff that is around the headlight wires?

unless your shooting for some original looking stuff I'd buy some electrical shrink stuff and put it on the wires.

Try RI Wire or road island wire. After you look at their on line stuff call them.

Wire loom can be found at most auto parts stores.

Ill shrink wrap the connections but like the look of the wrap after the shrink wrap.

It's heat shrink, not shrink wrap. And are you talking about wire loom that you want it wrapped in afterwards?

any diagram or info or does it matter which wire is which? no markings on the headlight wires, but my chassis wiring is labeled.

Yes, it definitely matters. What colors do you have on your pigtail? Usually there's white for ground, then two others, one high and one low. Should be black High Beam and Green Low Beam, but try it on a battery and see. I've seen red and green instead of black and green too.

Well I just spent an hour and a half composing an answer, I think we've satisfied the trim problem.

The Low beam was a 16GA natural colored cloth wire with two green parallel tracers.
The Hi beam was a 14GA natural colored cloth wire with two black crossed tracers.
The ground was a 14GA plain natural colored cloth wire with no tracers.
