The 1937 Chevy Pickup I bought off eBay finally arrived and in itemizing what it needs to complete it, I realized that it needs front turn signals. I'm not overly concerned with it being exactly as the truck should have been in 1937 as it is a modified, not original, but does anyone have any ideas what part would work/look best for this application?

I have tried looking at tons of pictures of Chevy Trucks of that era and some have bumper mounted turn signal lights, some attach next to the headlights in holes found there, and yet others just tuck some lights low inside the grille (out of sight unless they are in use) on the left or right...

Your suggestions/ideas/thoughts?

Thanks in advance...

Most places (at least here in the states) don't require you to put turn signals or parking lights on a vehicle that didn't come with them unless you don't have a left arm. grin

Lots of guys have used fog lamps attached to the bumper for this purpose.

You might also put some lights directly on the fenders, too, like they did in the old days, but that would involve drilling holes in your sheetmetal, and the "fender" lights don't look very nice.

If there are park lites on the truck you can install sockets for 2 filment bulbs and use that as turn signals..If not look around as sky is the limit...doc

Hey '37 Chevtruckguy !. Great to see another old chevy guy so close to home. I am currently putting my '40 back together - would love to have a look at your truck sometime. Give me an email - [email protected]. On your turnsignal question, I converted my parking lights on top of fenders to dual filament bulbs.

Neat trick I did. There a light called "Visibolt." It a LED lamp recessed into the middle of a round or oval (your choice) bumper bracket bolt. I mounted mine using their yellow LED's and can use it as a parking or turn signal light.

Rusty Rod went to the local Autozone and picked up a couple of "behive" lights (amber) and poked them inbetwixt the headlight mount and the radiator shell... wiring them is not difficult.

Another quality post.

Wow, great guys! So many good ideas... thanks!

I'll have to take a look at some of these options online and then see which I think would be best for the old beast wink

I see that there are two holes (that look factory) near the mounts for the headlights so that may be the ideal mounting position... Now to find something that will actually fit there and look cool! lol wink

As always, everyone's help is MUCH appreciated... thanks guys!

I put the little chrome/orange ones attached to the bumper bracket so folks could see them. I think they look good and neat....but you can use this same bracket/light by drilling a small hole under the headlight bucket and attach it under the headlight. I have seen them done this way and it looks pretty good to plus it can be seen fairly easy. If doing mine again I think I would put them under the headlight. There are several different sizes of these.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
