It sounds like you have a center tap alternator with a full wave rectifier.. I would be careful on how you have rebuild it. the alternator is a 12 volt with a center tap witch gives you +6V and -6V all the time with is a vary affective way wan using an external rectifier. Hard to rebuild if you need to rewind.
