I saw an interesting episode of Overhaulin where Chip did a 1954 AD. What was the most interesting about it was how he did the bed wood. He took Oak, and to make it look old and antique, he painted it black, then removed the paint with Acetone. The black stained parts of the wood to make it look really old and original. (even tho we know original was tar black). Point is, even tho its not original, if you are stuck on oak, its a pretty cool way to go.
